A coordinated inter-agency operation from the Bureau of Customs, Coast Guard District Southern Visayas (CGDSV), CGIU–Southern Visayas, MARSLEG–SV, and Port Police successfully intercepted a significant shipment of alleged smuggled ci******es at Dumaguete Port 20 May 2026. The contraband was discovered aboard a transport vehicle preparing for transit, highlighting the heightened vigilance of maritime and border security forces in the region.

The Philippine Coast Guard Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear (CBRN) Force, in partnership with the Philippine National Police Special Action Force, successfully concluded the CBRN Responder's Training during its Closing Ceremony held on 15 May 2026 at the Sandiwa Grandstand, Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City.

The activity marked another significant milestone in strengthening the nation’s preparedness and response capability against CBRN threats through enhanced inter-agency collaboration, operational readiness, and specialized training.

Serving as the Guest of Honor and Speaker, Mr. Manuel M. Lukban Jr., Department Head of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office Bulacan, emphasized the vital role of preparedness, coordination, and continuous capability development in ensuring effective and timely response during CBRN emergencies and incidents.

Throughout the training, participating personnel underwent intensive lectures, simulations, and practical exercises focused on hazard recognition, proper utilization of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), decontamination procedures, and coordinated emergency response operations.

Anchored on the CBRN Community, Awareness, Readiness, and Education (CARE) Framework , the initiative reflects the steadfast commitment of partner agencies in promoting a safer, more resilient, and well-prepared nation against evolving CBRN threats.

This joint undertaking supports the directive of Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. and aligns with the strategic guidance of the Philippine Coast Guard Commandant in strengthening national security, public safety, and disaster preparedness.
