Students of Visayas State University (VSU) actively joined research discussions on animal disease management and environmental health risks that continue to affect communities and livelihoods.

Through the Department of Science and Technology – National Research Council of the Philippines’ (DOST-NRCP) communication program, May Magandang Bukas Mula sa Pagtuklas (MMBMP), students were encouraged to become communicators of science in their own communities.

The activity aimed to strengthen the role of youth in translating research into knowledge that can inform, guide, and empower local action.

Farmers and local leaders from six municipalities in Benguet are working closely with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) to strengthen highland farming communities against the impacts of climate change through the development of a real-time frost monitoring system.

Through the FrostPH project, the Department seeks to support vegetable farmers efficiently manage frost conditions and minimize potential crop damage through timely and science-based monitoring.

The ongoing project is spearheaded by the DOST-Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) with funding support from the DOST-National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP).

𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓-𝐍𝐑𝐂𝐏 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐄𝐱𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫

The Department of Science and Technology – National Research Council of the Philippines (DOST-NRCP) formally welcomed Dr. Brian S. Bantugan as the incoming Executive Director during an oath-taking ceremony held on May 26, 2026 at the NRCP Auditorium.

The oath was administered by NRCP President Dr. Michael Angelo Promentilla and witnessed by members of the Governing Board and Secretariat.

Dr. Bantugan will officially assume office as Executive Director on June 8, 2026.

A regular member of the NRCP Division of Humanities, Dr. Bantugan serves as Chairperson of the Communications and English Programs of St. Paul University Manila and previously held the position of Director of its Research Center.
