AS SUCH, TREATMENT IS NOT FOCUSED ON ONE TARGET ALONE BUT IS REFINED TO THE INDIVIDUAL NEEDS OF THE PATIENTS WE SERVE,
ALL UNDER THE TREATMENT MODALITY OUR CENTER FOLLOWS. HISTORICAL BACKGROUND
Novemb
er 09, 1972 – Then Col. Felix PC, Commanding Officer of the “Constabulary Anti – Narcotics Unit (CANU)” founded the “Drug Abuse Rehabilitation Network Inc. (DARN)”, a private non – stock non – profit residential center for drug dependents. DARN Center started and occupied only three (3) buildings loaned from the Veterans Federation of the Philippines at Veterans Compound in Taguig City, Metro Manila, for the dormitories of the drug dependents with a maximum 90 – 100 male and female population. CANU – DARN Rehabilitation Center’s Chief then was Colonel Artemio Agustin, MC (PC). In October 20, 2002 with RA 9165 as reference as Letter of Instruction LOI 38/02 sets forth the creation and operation of the “Centers for the Ultimate Rehabilitation of Drug Dependents (CURRED)” under the Office of the Deputy Chief, PNP Police Deputy Director General Edgardo Aglipay for operation elaborates on its function and operation thrust. Patients’ Positive Socialization
As part of the continuing treatment and rehabilitation programs of DOH – Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Bicutan, our monthly patients’ positive socialization was held last April 29, 2026 with the theme “Dancing Platoon”.
Patients came together through synchronized group performances, showing unity, discipline, and cooperation in every routine. Each group brought their own style and creativity, making the activity both engaging and enjoyable for everyone. More than just a presentation, the activity served as a venue for patients to build confidence, express themselves and strengthen their bond with one another in a positive and supportive environment.
Facilitated by the Treatment Program Support Committee (TPSC), this monthly activity continues to promote active participation, teamwork, and meaningful social interaction among patients

DOH TRC Bicutan Celebrates Women’s Month 2026:
WE for Gender Equality and Inclusive Society
“Lead Like Babaylans, Filipinas”
The Department of Health – Treatment and Rehabilitation Center Bicutan successfully conducted a series of activities in celebration of Women’s Month this March 2026.
A heartfelt acknowledgement goes to the Top Management, headed by Dr. Alfonso A. Villaroman, MD., FPCAM, FPSMS, Medical Center Chief II, whose support made this celebration possible. Their support also allows us to continue meaningful programs for our patients. The program was organized by the Treatment Program Support Committee (TPSC) under the Residential In-patient Treatment Division, headed by Dr. Manuel C. Panopio, MD, MHcA, FPCAM, FPSMSG, Chief Health Program Officer.
The event formally opened through the inspiring message of Ms. Ana Melissa Vicuña, OTRP, MOST, TWG-Chairperson of the Gender and Development Committee (GAD), who emphasized the vital role of women as agents of change—modern-day babaylans who lead, empower, and help build inclusive communities.
As part of the celebration, a Family Psychoeducation and Support Group was conducted, providing a venue for families to gain knowledge and strengthen support systems. A Patients’ Psychoeducation session was also held, entitled “Kababaihan: Lakas ng Lipunan at Tagapagtaguyod ng Pagbabago,” conducted by the staff of the Psychological Services Section. The session highlighted the strength, resilience, and important role of women in driving positive change in society.
To promote camaraderie and active participation, Patients’ Positive Socialization Activities were facilitated, featuring a dance competition and a backdrop design contest that showcased the creativity and talents of the patients. We also extend our sincere appreciation to our panel of judges for the activities: Ms. Ana Melissa Vicuña, along with our invited visitors: PLT Hermadelle O. Caluza of the NCRPO-Regional Mobile Force Battalion and Ms. Romelyn Q. Ursua, Social Welfare Officer from Bahay Pag-asa Taguig City. Your time and support greatly contributed to the success of the activities.
Let this celebration serve as a reminder that women’s strength, leadership, and voice play a vital role in shaping a better society. Together, we move forward in fostering respect, equality, and empowerment for all.
