In his remarks, Ambassador Brieger highlighted that ams Asia Inc. particularly in Calamba is a strong example of Austrian engineering excellence combined with the talent and dedication of the Filipino workforce, creating value for the company, the community, and the broader semiconductor ecosystem.

On 4 May 2026, Ambassador Johann Brieger and Mme. Roswitha Brieger warmly hosted a lunch for Prof. Gabriele Kotsis, National Coordinator for Austria and Vice President of the ASEAN-European Academic University Network (ASEA-UNINET), alongside Prof. Wolfgang Obenaus of the Vienna University of Economics and Business, member of the Austrian ASEA-UNINET Board of Trustees and the ASEA-UNINET Executive Board, during their official visit to the Philippines.

The delegation’s visit included the Ernst-Mach Scholarship interviews, which were conducted at the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, under the auspices of ASEA-UNINET. These interviews represent an important step in fostering academic collaboration and exchange between Austrian and ASEAN universities, providing opportunities for students and researchers to engage in international study and research programs.

This visit underscores Austria’s continued commitment to strengthening academic and cultural ties within the ASEAN region and promoting excellence in higher education through ASEA-UNINET initiatives. 🇦🇹🤝🇵🇭

A touch of Vienna on fashion’s grandest stage 🇦🇹✨

At the Met Gala 2026, the legacy of Austrian artist Gustav Klimt shimmered through some of the night’s most talked-about looks worn by American actress Hunter Schafer and singer and songwriter Gracie Abrams.

Abrams fully embodied Portrait of Adele Bloch-Bauer I—the iconic “Woman in Gold,” and one of the most celebrated (and contested) portraits of the 20th century.

In contrast, Schafer’s outfit ensemble drew from the quiet whimsy of Portrait of Mäda Primavesi (1912).

What a striking testament to how Gustav Klimt’s artistic language continues to shape contemporary fashion, and how his vision remains as captivating and influential as ever! 🇦🇹🎨🖼️

On Thursday, Ambassador Johann Brieger received a courtesy call from recently-appointed UNICEF Country Representative, Ms. Kyungsun Kim.

The meeting provided an opportunity to reaffirm the enduring partnership between Austria and the United Nations. Ambassador Brieger expressed continued support for the UNICEF’s mandate within the Philippines and emphasized the importance of collective action in navigating the many challenges at hand. 🇦🇹🇺🇳🇵🇭
