Police Apprehend Robbery Suspect Following Violent Attack on Quezon City Footbridge

Operatives from the Quezon City Police District successfully apprehended a 28-year-old man on June 2, 2026, moments after he allegedly robbed a mother and daughter at knifepoint, leaving the younger victim with serious injuries. The incident occurred at approximately 8:00 PM on a footbridge located at the corner of Luzon Avenue and Congressional Avenue in Barangay Culiat.

According to the investigation, the two victims—a 44-year-old vendor and her 20-year-old college student daughter—were crossing the footbridge when the suspect accosted them. Brandishing a nine-inch folding knife, the suspect declared a hold-up and forcibly snatched the mother’s green shoulder bag, which contained ₱5,500.00 in cash. When the suspect attempted to steal the daughter’s mobile phone, she resisted. The suspect then violently kicked the student, causing her to fall from the elevated walkway. The impact resulted in a craniofacial fracture, a left humerus fracture, and multiple abrasions, while the mother also sustained multiple bruises during the struggle.

The victims immediately raised an alarm, alerting nearby bystanders who managed to restrain the suspect as he attempted to flee. QCPD officers, who were already in the vicinity conducting routine visibility patrols, observed the commotion and immediately intervened, taking the suspect into custody. Authorities recovered the stolen green shoulder bag, the ₱5,500.00 cash, an ₱8,000.00 mobile phone, and the nine-inch folding knife used in the commission of the crime. Both victims were promptly transported to a local hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment. The suspect is now in police custody and will face charges for Robbery with Serious Physical Injuries and Robbery with Violence Against or Intimidation of Persons under Article 294 of the Revised Penal Code, with the case being referred to the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office for inquest proceedings.

PMGEN ANTHONY A ABERIN, Regional Director of the National Capital Region Police Office, condemned the violent attack and praised the immediate reaction of the responding officers. He stated that every act of violence has consequences, noting that the suspect chose to harm innocent people and the officers on the ground ensured that choice caught up with him immediately. The NCRPO continues to emphasize the importance of police visibility in deterring crime and remains committed to public safety. PMGEN Aberin urges the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious individuals or criminal activities to the nearest police station or through the PNP’s official emergency hotlines.

“Every act of violence has consequences. This suspect chose to harm innocent people – and our officers on the ground made sure that choice caught up with him immediately,” he said.

NCRPO STRIKES HARD: ₱2.26-MILLION SHABU HAUL SEIZED IN QUEZON CITY OPERATION

In a decisive blow against the illegal drug trade in Metro Manila, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) successfully intercepted a significant shipment of narcotics during a pre-dawn operation in Quezon City today, June 3, 2026.

Operatives from the Station Drug Enforcement Unit of the Masambong Police Station (PS-2) executed the high-stakes buy-bust operation at approximately 2:30 AM along Manalo Street, Barangay Del Monte. The operation resulted in the apprehension of two suspects and the seizure of approximately 333.61 grams of suspected shabu, carrying an estimated street value of ₱2,268,548.00. Beyond the illicit substances, authorities successfully recovered the marked buy-bust money, a motorcycle, a mobile phone, and various items utilized by the suspects to facilitate their criminal activities.

Investigators have identified one of the apprehended individuals as a High-Value Individual (HVI), noting that background verification confirms a prior arrest record related to violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. Both suspects are currently detained as police process the confiscated evidence for laboratory analysis. The legal team is presently preparing the filing of charges for violations of Sections 5 and 11, Article II of Republic Act 9165, which will be submitted for inquest proceedings before the Quezon City Prosecutor’s Office.

This operation highlights the rigorous implementation of the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) strategy, a core component of the focused agenda set forth by the Chief of the Philippine National Police, PGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr. Under the command of PMGEN Anthony A Aberin, Regional Director of the NCRPO, the police force continues to refine its tactical approach to aggressively dismantle drug supply chains across the capital region in alignment with PGEN Nartatez's strategic vision.

"The removal of more than 333 grams of suspected shabu from our communities is a significant accomplishment that directly protects lives and prevents the further spread of illegal drugs," stated PMGEN Aberin. "The NCRPO remains steadfast in its commitment to intensify intelligence-driven operations against drug traffickers and distributors, ensuring that all enforcement actions are executed with precision and strictly within the bounds of the law."

EMPO NETS NCR’S TOP 7 MOST WANTED PERSON; MULTIPLE S*X OFFENSE WARRANTS SERVED IN CALOOCAN

The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) scored a major victory in its campaign against criminality after its Regional Top 7 Most Wanted Person was captured during an Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO)-driven manhunt in Caloocan City on Tuesday evening.

The accused, a senior citizen whose identity is withheld in compliance with legal protections for victims, was arrested at approximately 7:00 PM on June 2, 2026, along Maria Clara Street, Barangay 106, Caloocan City. The joint operation, executed under a specialized Case Operation Plan, neutralized a high-profile fugitive who simultaneously held the rank of Top 3 Most Wanted Person at the District Level and Top 1 Most Wanted Person at the Station Level.

Operating units served multiple standing warrants of arrest against the accused for severe offenses against women and children, including two counts of R**e (No bail recommended), Acts of Lasciviousness (In relation to Sec. 5(b) of R.A. 7610), and Lascivious Conduct (In relation to Sec. 5(b) of R.A. 7610 / Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).

To guarantee absolute transparency and compliance with established judicial protocols, arresting officers utilized an Alternative Recording Device (ARD) during the operation, in strict accordance with the Supreme Court's Rules on the Use of Body-Worn Cameras.

Following the apprehension, the suspect was immediately brought to the Caloocan City Medical Center for a standard medical and physical examination. He was subsequently transported to the Caloocan City Police Station for administrative documentation and has been turned over to the Warrant and Subpoena Section for temporary detention, pending a Commitment Order from the court of origin.

This high-impact operation directly advances the Five-Focused Agenda of PNP Chief, PGEN Jose Melencio C Nartatez Jr., which prioritizes intensified, intelligence-led, and legally grounded campaigns against wanted individuals, with a specific emphasis on protecting vulnerable sectors of society.

NCRPO Regional Director, PMGEN Anthony A Aberin, commended the operating units and emphasized that this successful arrest reflects the command’s unwavering resolve to track down fugitives and hold them accountable.

“This operation successfully removed one of the region's most elusive wanted persons from our streets and placed him firmly within the reach of the justice system," PMGEN Aberin stated. "The NCRPO will never relent in pursuing individuals facing serious criminal charges. Through the strategic ex*****on of EMPO, we are continually sharpening our capability to locate wanted persons, uphold the rule of law, and protect our communities—especially the most vulnerable—from those who seek to victimize them."

NCRPO NETS REGION’S TOP 4 MOST WANTED PERSON FOR STATUTORY R**E IN TAGUIG

Demonstrating its relentless drive against high-value fugitives, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) successfully captured the Regional Top 4 Most Wanted Person for the month of June during a precision manhunt operation in Taguig City on June 2, 2026.

The intensive operation, conducted in Barangay Palingon Tipas, Taguig City, led to the arrest of a 23-year-old male suspect who has long evaded law enforcement. He faces two counts of Statutory R**e under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended by Republic Act 11648 and Republic Act 8353, in relation to Republic Act 7610 (Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation and Discrimination Act).

As one of Metro Manila's most sought-after fugitives, his apprehension was executed by personnel from the Warrant and Subpoena Section of the Taguig City Police Station. The team acted by virtue of warrants issued on May 11, 2026, by the Family Court of Taguig City, with no bail recommended.

Prior to being booked, the suspect was appraised of his constitutional rights in a language known to him and underwent the mandatory physical and medical examination at the Taguig City Health Office.

The neutralization of a Regional Most Wanted Person underscores the NCRPO’s intensified ex*****on of the Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) strategy. This framework optimizes intelligence sharing, target tracking, and coordinated warrant services across the metropolis to ensure that even the most high-profile fugitives are brought to justice.

NCRPO Regional Director, PMGEN ANTHONY A ABERIN, lauded the tracking teams for neutralizing a top-tier target and reiterated the command's unyielding stance against individuals who prey on minors.

"The arrest of one of our region's most wanted individuals sends a clear message: there is no safe haven for criminals in Metro Manila, especially those accused of crimes against children. The NCRPO will remain relentless in tracking down high-value targets to support the courts and ensure that those who exploit the vulnerable face the full force of the law," PMGEN Aberin stressed.

The arrested suspect is currently under the custody of the Taguig City Police Station pending the formal return of the warrant to the court of origin.
