Ang Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDX) ay isang teknik na ginagamit upang matukoy ang mga elements sa isang materyal sa pamamagitan ng pagsukat ng X-rays na nailalabas kapag tinamaan ang sample ng high-energy electrons. Karaniwang ginagamit ito kasama ng scanning electron microscope (SEM). Kapaki-pakinabang ito sa pagtukoy at pag-mapa kung paano nakakalat ang mga elements sa isang materyal o sample.
Naglalabas ng X-rays kapag tumama ang high-energy beam sa ibabaw ng sample, at bawat element ay may natatanging enerhiya na maaaring ikumpara sa reference data, karaniwang para sa mga elements na may atomic number na higit sa 10.

Gumagamit ito ng electron beam sa halip na ilaw, kaya nakakakuha ito ng sobrang linaw, mataas na resolusyon, at detalyadong imahe ng surface ng isang sample.
Sa tulong ng FE-SEM, mas nauunawaan ng mga siyentipiko at eksperto ang mga materyales sa microscopic level, na nakakatulong sa paglikha ng mas mahusay na teknolohiya at produkto.

What is a radioactive material? What if this material gets to your lab? How are you going handle this without compromising the safety of lab personnel and the facility?
These questions and more were answered during the โTraining on Safe Handling of Nuclear and Radioactive Materialโ held on November 25, 2024. DOST-PNRI experts, Ms. Eileen Beth Hernandez and Mr. Joseph Christian Isidro, led a dynamic session on the benefits, hazards, and safety protocols for handling radioactive materials. ITDI researchers and lab personnel actively participated, sharing valuable insights and feedback. This training was made possible through the ITDI-PNRI MOU signed in 2022. Kudos to everyone involved!
