The Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command (MARSLEC) conducted a creek clean-up activity at New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City as part of the pre-anniversary activities in celebration of the upcoming 125th Founding Anniversary of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), tentatively scheduled for the third week of October 2026.

The activity aimed to promote environmental awareness, cleanliness, and community participation while supporting efforts to maintain clean and sustainable waterways. MARSLEC personnel actively participated in the collection and proper disposal of waste materials along the creek, helping improve the cleanliness and overall condition of the area.

The activity also provided an opportunity for MARSLEC personnel to contribute to a cleaner, safer, and healthier environment in line with the objectives of the PCG’s 125th Founding Anniversary celebration.

𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐍𝐄𝐖𝐒: PCG, PDEA INTERCEPT P81.6 MILLION WORTH OF SUSPECTED SHABU

LOOK: The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) intercepted 12 kg of suspected shabu worth P81.6 million at the Batangas Port in Batangas City today, October 7, 2026.

According to the PCG, the joint operation resulted in the arrest of four male individuals.

The recovered evidence was turned over to PDEA for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges.

Narcotics Detection Dogs from the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) helped detect approximately 12 kilograms of suspected shabu concealed in a vehicle during a joint anti-illegal drug interdiction operation that also resulted in the arrest of four individuals at Batangas Port, Barangay Sta. Clara, Batangas City, on 07 October 2026.

The PCG, through the Coast Guard K9-Explosive Ordnance Disposal Force’s Field Operating Unit Southern Tagalog (CGK9-EODF FOU-STL), under the operational control of Coast Guard District Southern Tagalog, joined the PDEA-led operation alongside the Philippine Ports Authority, PNP Maritime Group, ATI Batangas, and other partner agencies.

Upon the arrival of M/V Trans-Asia 20 from Caticlan Port, Malay, Aklan, the composite team conducted K9 paneling inspections at Ramp 2, covering disembarking passengers and rolling cargo. A black pickup truck was flagged down after PCG and PDEA Narcotics Detection Dogs indicated the possible presence of illegal drugs.

𝐋𝐎𝐎𝐊: The Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command (MARSLEC) welcomed 𝐂𝐃𝐑 𝐙𝐀𝐖 𝐙𝐀𝐖 𝐊𝐘𝐀𝐖 𝐌𝐂𝐆 of the Myanmar Coast Guard, a Foreign Student Officer of the Coast Guard Senior Executive Course (CGOSEC) Class 04-2026, during his immersion at Headquarters Maritime Security Law Enforcement Command, Coast Guard Base Taguig, New Lower Bicutan, Taguig City, on 07 October 2026.

CDR KYAW MCG was received by 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐉𝐎𝐇𝐍 𝐌 𝐀𝐆𝐔𝐈𝐍𝐀𝐋𝐃𝐎 𝐏𝐂𝐆 Acting Chief of Staff, MARSLEC, and 𝐂𝐀𝐏𝐓 𝐋𝐄𝐈𝐋𝐀 𝐀 𝐓𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐋 𝐏𝐂𝐆, Superintendent, Maritime Security Law Enforcement Training Institute (MSLETI), together with other Officers of the Command. As part of the welcome ceremony, CDR KYAW MCG signed the MARSLEC Guest Book and left his handmark on the Wall of Hands of Partnership, Compassion, and Generosity, symbolizing the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation among maritime service.

The immersion provided CDR KYAW MCG with an opportunity to gain firsthand insights into the Philippine Coast Guard’s organizational structure, operational functions, maritime governance, and inter-agency coordination, with emphasis on MARSLEC’s role in maritime security and law enforcement.

During the engagement, MARSLEC shared its operational experiences, best practices, and capabilities relevant to maritime security law enforcement. These insights are intended to support CDR KWAY’s ongoing studies and contribute to the continuing professional development of the Myanmar Coast Guard, particularly as it strengthens its organizational and operational capabilities as an independent maritime service.

Beyond the exchange of institutional knowledge, the immersion served as a platform for learning, sharing experiences, and strengthening professional and institutional ties between the Philippine Coast Guard and the Myanmar Coast Guard.

Through engagements such as this, MARSLEC continues to support professional development, foster international cooperation, and promote the exchange of knowledge and best practices toward building more capable, interoperable, and responsive maritime services.

𝐈𝐂𝐘𝐌𝐈: The Maritime Security Law Enforcement Group South Western Mindanao (MARSLEG-SWM) and its sub-units participated in the 3rd Quarter MARSLEN Drill at the Port of Zamboanga, Zamboanga City, on 28 September 2026.

The activity was conducted in coordination with Coast Guard Station Zamboanga, Coast Guard Medical Service Southwestern Mindanao, Coast Guard Nursing Service, Coast Guard Special Operation Group Southwestern Mindanao, and Coast Guard Air Station Zamboanga (CGAS ZAM), with the support of Coast Guard District Southwestern Mindanao (CGDSWM) and the crew of M/V Maria Rebecca.

The drill featured simulated maritime security and emergency response scenarios involving a Man Overboard (MOB) incident and fuel pilferage. The MOB scenario was conducted aboard M/V Maria Rebecca of Montenegro Shipping Lines, where participating personnel carried out established procedures for incident recognition and reporting, emergency coordination, and search and rescue in accordance with established Emergency Readiness Evaluation (ERE) procedures. Coast Guard Medical Service and Nursing personnel also simulated the provision of immediate medical assessment and first aid.

The second scenario involved the detection, interception, apprehension, and securing of a suspected motor banca engaged in fuel pilferage at the Port of Zamboanga. The exercise was supported by the aerial surveillance capabilities of CGAS ZAM, demonstrating the importance of coordinated maritime and aerial assets in monitoring and responding to maritime security incidents.

The conduct of the 3rd Quarter MARSLEN Drill provided MARSLEG-SWM and participating Coast Guard units an opportunity to further strengthen their readiness, coordination, interoperability, and emergency response capabilities, while enhancing established operational procedures for maritime security and emergency situations in Southwestern Mindanao.

The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) intercepted 12 kilos of suspected shabu with an estimated standard drug price of ₱81.6 million at Batangas Port, Barangay Sta. Clara, Batangas City, today, October 7, 2026.

According to PCG Spokesperson, Commodore Noemie Cayabyab, the joint operation resulted in the arrest of four individuals, all male, aged 18, 29, 30, and 41, residents of Malate, Manila, and Maluso, Basilan.

Authorities also recovered a vehicle, a cellular phone, identification cards, and ATM cards.

The inventory of the recovered evidence was completed at around 9AM.

At 10AM, the four arrested individuals and recovered evidence were turned over to PDEA for proper disposition and the filing of appropriate charges for alleged violations of Section 5 (Transportation of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Article II of Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
