DOST ITDI Industrial Technology Development Institute is an attached agency of the Department of Science and Technology.

The Industrial Technology Development Institute is an agency of the Department of Science and Technology mandated to undertake research and development (R&D), conduct knowledge and technology transfer, and provide technical services. A research and development institute, focuses on five major areas, namely: food processing, materials science, chemicals and energy, environment and biotechnology, and packaging technology. Specifically, ITDI programs envision to propel industrial development by developing technologies that are aligned with the following DOST Outcome.

The DOST-ITDI Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) conducted a Laboratory Safety and Risk Management Seminar on 23 September 2026 at the DOST-FNRI Auditorium, attended by over 100 DOST-ITDI employees from various divisions.

The seminar opened with remarks from Dr. Annabelle V. Briones, Director of ITDI, who emphasized that laboratory safety is a shared responsibility and an essential part of responsible and quality scientific work. She encouraged participants to strengthen their knowledge of laboratory practices, hazardous materials handling, waste management, and laboratory incident prevention and response.

Four technical speakers shared their expertise on key laboratory safety and biosafety topics: Mr. John Paulo G. Jose on Biorsik Management and Laboratory Acquired Infections; Ms. Kimberly Neri-Salinas on Biological Hazard Identification and Biosafety Incident Response; Dr. Maria Terese Alonzo-Dimamay on Quality Practices in Basic Biomedical Research; and Mr. Bernard Jude Gutierrez on Biological and Chemical Hazardous Waste Handling and Disposal.

The seminar concluded with remarks from Dr. Emelda A. Ongo, Chairperson of ITDI-IBC, who highlighted the importance of working together to ensure the safety of personnel, surrounding communities, and the environment.

The activity reinforced DOST-ITDIโ€™s commitment to strengthening its biosafety culture and promoting safe and responsible laboratory practices across the institution.

The DOSTโ€“Industrial Technology Development Institute (DOST-ITDI) was honored with the Outstanding eNGAS User Entity Award for Calendar Year 2026 during the 17th Annual National Convention and 2026 Membership Conference of the Government Financial Management Innovators Circle, Inc. (GFMC), held on September 22โ€“24, 2026 at the Luxent Hotel, Quezon City.

The recognition was received by DOST-ITDI Director Dr. Annabelle V. Briones, together with the ITDI Finance and Management Division (FMD) Team, led by its Chief, Eric M. Charlon.

The award recognizes ITDIโ€™s significant contribution to the effective implementation and enhancement of the Electronic New Government Accounting System (eNGAS), reflecting the Instituteโ€™s commitment to efficient, accountable, and digitally enabled government financial management.

With the conference theme, โ€œThe Integrity Shield: Protecting the Future of PFM through Secure, Ethical and Sustainable Digitalization,โ€ the event highlighted the importance of integrity and digital transformation in strengthening public financial management.
