Guess the What ISDA Name correctly for a chance to win a cash prize!

As part of the celebration of this year’s Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) and the upcoming Fish Conservation Week, the DA-BFAR will run , a series of trivia contests showcasing the rich biodiversity of our marine resources.

GENERAL MECHANICS: How to join?

1. A photo of a fish will be posted every Monday on DA-BFAR’s official page starting today, September 4, 2023. Participants must write in the comments section the correct COMMON NAME and/or SCIENTIFIC NAME of the featured fish.

2. Participants may key in their answer on or before Thursday, 5:00PM of the same week. The weekly winner shall be announced on DA-BFAR’s official page on Friday of the same week.

3. The winner shall be randomly selected via commentpicker.com. If the answer is incorrect, the same process will be repeated. This will continue until the comment with the correct answer is selected.

4. A Participant may only win once. Should the name of a previous winner come up, the same shall be removed from the list until a new winner is selected.

5. The randomly selected comment with the correct answer will be declared as the winner.

6. Upon receipt of a cash prize of PhP 2,000.00, the winner must send a photo and a receiving document with their signature as proof that they have already received the cash prize.

Shellfishes collected and tested from coastal waters of Altavas, Batan, and New Washington in Batan Bay, Aklan; Sapian Bay (Ivisan and Sapian in Capiz; Mambuquiao and Camanci, Batan in Aklan); coastal waters of Panay; Pilar; President Roxas; Roxas CIty in Capiz; coastal waters of Gigantes Islands, Carles in Iloilo; coastal waters of Dauis and Tagbilaran City in Bohol; and Dumanquillas Bay in Zamboanga del Sur are still POSITIVE for Paralytic Shellfish Poison (PSP) or toxic red tide that is beyond the regulatory limit.

All types of shellfish and Acetes sp. or alamang gathered from the area shown above are NOT SAFE for human consumption. Fish, squids, and crabs are SAFE for human consumption provided that they are fresh and washed thoroughly, and internal organs such as gills and intestines are removed before cooking.

Who can join?
* At least 18 years old, professional and amateur photographers nationwide

How to join?
* Fill out the online registration form https://tinyurl.com/yckdrc9j.
* Participants shall submit two photographs based on the following themes:
a. Masaganang Pangisdaan, Maunlad na Ekonomiya
b. Ways in which Filipinos can protect and conserve the country’s fisheries and aquatic resources
* Indicate your full name, barangay, and city/municipality.
* Submit and upload your entries via the provided Google Form link on/or before September 22, 2023 11:59 PM only.

Photo format:
* Should be in JPEG format, at least 300dpi resolution, in landscape orientation
* Should have no watermark/name of the photographer on the images
* Should be in full color (black and white/sepia images will not be accepted)
* Must be a single work or original material created and taken solely by the participant

* Photo entries shall be disqualified if:
• Have undergone post-processing
• Contain offensive contents
• Have won in other contests

Criteria for Judging:
* Relevance to the theme (35%)
* Creativity and originality (25%)
* Quality (20%)
* Visual impact (15%)
* Facebook Reactions (10%)

Voting Process:
*All shortlisted photos will be uploaded to the BFAR Official page during the voting period.
*Participants are encouraged to promote their photo and encourage friends to react to their submission.
*Only “LIKE”, “LOVE” and “WOW” reactions on each entry will contribute to the overall score.
*The participant who will use the auto like reactions is automatically disqualified from the contest.

Important notice:
*The entrants shall give BFAR permission to use the photos in its IEC and advocacy materials.
*All employees of BFAR are NOT qualified to join the contest.
