We are incredibly proud to announce that San Agustin, Surigao del Sur has been officially selected to host the Mindanao leg of the Indigenous Peoples Games this coming August 21 to 23. This major event is a collaborative effort with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP).

This hosting is a magnificent opportunity to showcase our local hospitality and sports tourism, but most importantly, to celebrate and uplift the rich culture, traditions, and heritage of our indigenous communities.

Let’s unite and work together to make this national event a massive success for San Agustin and the entire province of Surigao del Sur! 💚

LOOK | Strengthening Universal Health Care for Every Surigaonon

We continue to move forward in advancing Universal Health Care, where we discussed key strategies to make integrated, accessible, and equitable health services a reality for all.

Central to this effort is the strengthening of our province-wide health system anchored on collaboration, resource pooling, and the integration of services across all levels of care. Under the UHC framework, pooling funds through mechanisms like the Special Health Fund enables us to maximize resources and deliver better, more responsive healthcare to our communities.

We recognize that one of the key challenges lies in aligning our LGUs and stakeholders toward a shared vision. To address this, we are exploring practical and innovative approaches, such as pilot “sandbox” initiatives that link willing LGUs with accredited Primary Care Facilities, to demonstrate the feasibility and benefits of full integration.

Moving forward, we will also pursue benchmarking activities with model provinces and conduct localized roadshows within our Health Development Zones to strengthen awareness, build trust, and ensure that every stakeholder is part of this transformation.

Together, we are building a stronger, more unified health system; one that ensures every Surigaonon has access to quality care without financial burden.

As part of our commitment under Johnny’s Ten-Point (JTP) Development Agenda, where healthcare remains our top priority, we have provided wheelchairs for our dear Surigaonon PWDs.

This initiative is a step forward in improving their comfort and daily mobility. Rest assured, we will continue to stand by our people and ensure that essential healthcare services reach those who need them most. 💚
