BISLIG CITY - DICT-Caraga, through its Surigao del Sur Provincial Field Office, successfully conducted a two-day Graphic Design and Video Editing Workshop for North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) – Bislig Campus Faculty and Administrative Staff on September 28–29, 2026, at the Digital Transformation Center (DTC) in Brgy. Poblacion, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur, in partnership with NEMSU Bislig Campus to strengthen the participants’ practical multimedia and digital content creation competencies.

The activity engaged thirty-four (34) faculty and administrative staff members in hands-on learning sessions covering the principles of graphic design and visual communication, layout and graphic creation tools, video editing fundamentals, and audio, effects, and video enhancements. Through lectures, guided demonstrations, and practical exercises, participants developed skills applicable to classroom instruction, administrative reporting, official publications, and institutional communication.

As part of the workshop, participants applied their learning by developing campus print and digital assets and producing short instructional or event videos. The activity emphasized output-based learning, enabling participants to translate design and editing concepts into publication-ready graphics and fully rendered multimedia materials that can support NEMSU Bislig Campus’ academic and administrative communication needs.

Through initiatives such as this, DICT-Caraga continues to advance digital literacy and competency development by working with academic institutions to strengthen the practical ICT capabilities of their personnel and support the effective use of digital and multimedia tools in education and institutional communication.

BISLIG CITY — DICT Caraga, through its Surigao del Sur Provincial Office, equipped DTC and Tech4ED Partner Center Managers with digital and artificial intelligence tools for their professional work and community-based services during the Digital Transformation Center (DTC) Partner Center Managers’ Training held on September 14, 2026, at the DTC in Barangay Poblacion, Bislig City, Surigao del Sur.
The one-day training provided participants with practical tools that they can apply in their professional work and in assisting clients and communities at their respective centers. Participants explored digital and AI tools such as Gemini Deep Research, NotebookLM, Google Flow, Canva AI, and Cisco Networking Academy, with applications ranging from research and drafting communications and proposals to developing learning, presentation, visual, and video materials.
Discussions on DTC operations and service delivery, monitoring, documentation, and reporting complemented the digital skills sessions. Participants were guided on ways to improve the use of their centers and provide more responsive digital learning and services to their communities.
Through the training, DICT-Caraga continued to strengthen Partner Center Managers' capacity to use digital technologies in their work and in serving their communities.

LOOK: The Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Committee officially launched the “Tinubdan sa Impormasyong Pambarangay ug Serbisyong Pangkatawhan (TIPS)” in Maitom, Tandag City.

As part of the initiative, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) provided the following services:

- Provision of Free Wi-Fi at the Maitom Barangay Hall and Barangay Health Station
- Turnover of a Free Wi-Fi Tablet
- eGovPH Orientation and Awareness
- Cybersecurity Awareness for SK Officers and the Tandag City youth

Spearheaded by the DILG Surigao del Sur Provincial Office in partnership with the City Government of Tandag, this initiative aims to bring essential government information, digital services, and programs closer to communities, especially those in far-flung barangays.

LANUZA, SURIGAO DEL SUR - The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Lanuza, Surigao del Sur, successfully conducted an Electronic Local Government Unit System (eLGU) and Government Website Hosting Service Orientation on August 20, 2026.

The orientation was attended by Municipal Mayor Hon. Algerico Irizari, MD, municipal office heads and staff, and barangay officials, including Punong Barangays and Barangay Secretaries, demonstrating the LGU’s commitment to strengthening digital governance and improving the delivery of public services through technology.

Participants were introduced to the Electronic Local Government Unit (eLGU) System, highlighting its features and benefits in streamlining processes and making services more accessible. They also learned about the Government Website Hosting Service, which enables LGUs to maintain official websites for public information, announcements, and services.

“As we continue improving our local government services, we must embrace technology to meet the evolving needs of our constituents. I call on our municipal and barangay officials, personnel, and all stakeholders to actively support and participate in our digital transformation initiatives. Together, we can build a more responsive and efficient LGU for every constituent in Lanuza.” Hon. Algerico Irizari, MD, Municipal Mayor, said.

The orientation underscored the importance of digital platforms in promoting efficient, transparent, and citizen-centered governance. The active participation of LGU Lanuza officials demonstrates the municipality’s commitment to advancing digital transformation and strengthening engagement with its constituents.

Through initiatives such as the eLGU System and Website Hosting Service, DICT continues to support LGUs in their digital journey, paving the way for more responsive and accessible public services.

This activity marks another step toward building a more digital, efficient, and citizen-focused local government in Lanuza, Surigao del Sur.

LIANGA – DICT Caraga, through its Surigao del Sur Provincial Office, in partnership with the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Lianga, successfully held the SPARK Graduation Ceremony for the General Virtual Assistance 2.0 course at the Conference Room, Municipal Hall, Lianga, Surigao del Sur, on August 19, 2026. The event recognized the milestones of local scholars in acquiring AI-powered digital and virtual assistance competencies and celebrated their transition into remote work-ready professionals.
The culmination ceremony marked the official completion of the rigorous one hundred twenty (120)-hour SPARK Technical Training consisting of eighty (80) hours of virtual training and forty (40) hours of online campaign practice. The intensive course aimed to promote local digital economic development and remote employment readiness, equipping sixteen (16) graduating scholars with AI-powered skills in high demand. Inspirational messages from key representatives of LGU Lianga and DICT -Caraga highlighted the increasing relevance of AI and online literacy in the development of the rural workforce.
Throughout the program, the scholars underwent comprehensive assessments, including creating branded social media graphics and submitting job applications to foreign and local clients. This hands-on training yielded impressive results, as sixteen (16) scholars were declared competent, nine (9) secured immediate remote employment, and the entire batch generated a total of ₱208,303.60 in sales during their campaign period. Graduating scholar Lidy Red Calamba De Castro expressed her sincere gratitude to DICT-Caraga Regional Director Mario P. Cuñado and the Municipal Mayor headed by the Hon. Amado M. Layno Jr shared that the training helped him overcome BPO transition challenges and inspired the batch to commit to continuous learning.
DICT-Caraga and LGU Lianga moving forward, reinforced their commitment to support local ICT initiatives and continue to provide post-graduation support. From the advice of the Resource Person, entities will also look into putting up a continuous mentorship program and a dedicated networking community to share active client leads and continue to build Surigao del Sur’s digital talent pool.

SAN MIGUEL – The DICT-Caraga, through the Surigao del Sur Provincial Office, successfully conducted its Advanced Digital Literacy Training (DLT) for eleven (11) municipal government employees and barangay secretaries at the Municipal Information Office, Municipal Hall, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur, from August 3-7, 2026, to strengthen the digital competencies and office productivity of local personnel.
The five (5)-day intensive training program aimed to enhance the technical skills of local employees beyond basic operations, fostering seamless digital transformation within the municipal governance framework. By bridging digital skill gaps, the initiative ensures that local administration remains efficient, responsive, and aligned with modern electronic governance standards.
Throughout the session, participants engaged in hands-on workshops covering Google Workspace applications, cloud collaboration, digital document management, spreadsheet processing, and essential cybersecurity awareness. These practical exercises directly replicated actual government administrative tasks, ensuring that learning outcomes translate into immediate workflow improvements across municipal departments.
DICT-Caraga and the LGU of San Miguel look forward to sustaining this partnership through continued digital literacy initiatives and technology interventions aimed at providing faster, safer, and more accessible public services for all residents.

SAN MIGUEL — DICT-Caraga, along with the Surigao del Sur Provincial Office, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office Caraga, the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP), and the National Irrigation Administration (NIA), successfully held the Intermediate Digital Literacy Training for Irrigators' Associations (IAs) from July 28 to 30, 2026, at the NIA Tago RIS in San Miguel, Surigao del Sur. The three (3)-day training gathered nineteen (19) representatives from participating Irrigators' Associations to strengthen their digital productivity skills and enhance the use of digital technologies in organizational operations and community-based services.
The activity aimed at improving the digital skills of EPAHP beneficiaries by giving them exposure to useful tools that can improve their paperwork, communication, teamwork and other daily office tasks. Interactive lectures, demonstrations and hands-on workshops on Microsoft Office and Productivity Tools and cyber security awareness were held to encourage responsible and secure use of digital technologies. These applications were demonstrated using real life exercises that participants can easily implement in their own Irrigators’ Associations.
During the three (3)-day training, the participants created practical outputs from the productivity tools showcased, which enabled them to improve their organizational record management, information sharing, professional reports and presentations. The activity further pointed out the significance of digital proficiency in improving the productivity of organizations and facilitating more responsive and efficient service delivery within community-based organizations.
The training is part of the continuous collaboration of DICT-Caraga and DSWD Caraga on the Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) which is committed to strengthening Community-Based Organizations through capacity-building initiatives and digital inclusion. DICT-Caraga is unwavering in its efforts to fulfill its commitment to build digitally capable communities and empower organizations to leverage technology for sustainable development and better public service by equipping the participants with practical ICT competencies and workplace productivity skills.
