The NCIP Provincial OfficeโSurigao del Sur, through its personnel in behalf of Provincial Officer, Christopher C. Aying, witnessed the Oath Taking Ceremony of the newly selected Barangay Indigenous Peoples Mandatory Representative (IPMR) of Brgy. San Isidro, Marihatag, Surigao del Sur on May 18, 2026, held at Pavillon, Marihatag Municipal Tree Park and Resort.
The activity was attended by the recognized tribal leaders from the four ICCs/IPs within the Municipality of Marihatag, together with some family members of the tribal leaders from Brgy. San Isidro.
Also present during the ceremony were Municipal Mayor Hon. Benjamin T. Fazon, Jr., Vice Mayor Hon. Charlito Lerog, and Brgy. Captain Hon. Dominggo A. Deligero of Brgy. San Isidro.
Hon. Benjamin T. Fazon, Jr. served as the officiating officer during the oath taking of Hawudon Sampiano, Sr. as the newly selected Brgy. IPMR of San Isidro. Although the oath taking ceremony was conducted on May 18, 2026, the official assumption of duties and effectivity of his term at the barangay level shall commence on June 1, 2026.
The NCIP expresses its gratitude to the LGU of Marihatag, tribal leaders, and everyone who supported the activity.

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Surigao del Sur Provincial Office successfully conducted a two-day Capacity Development activity for the Manobo ICCs/IPs of CADT 153 in Cagwait, Surigao del Sur under the implementation of the ๐๐ง๐ญ๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐จ๐ฉ๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐ฉ๐ฉ๐ซ๐จ๐๐๐ก ๐ข๐ง ๐๐ฆ๐ฉ๐ฅ๐๐ฆ๐๐ง๐ญ๐ข๐ง๐ ๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐ฒ-๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ญ ๐๐๐จ๐ง๐จ๐ฆ๐ข๐ ๐๐ซ๐จ๐ ๐ซ๐๐ฆ๐ฌ (๐๐๐๐๐-๐๐๐๐).
The activity forms part of the continuing efforts to strengthen culturally appropriate and sustainable economic initiatives for Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs). Following a series of consultation meetings with partner agencies and community leaders, the Manobo ICCs/IPs identified and finalized the establishment of an IADDA-CREP Farm focused on Abaca Production and Free-Range Chicken Raising in Sitio Mam-on, Barangay Tubo-tubo, Cagwait, Surigao del Sur.
The first day of the activity centered on technical capability-building sessions on abaca production and free-range chicken raising. These sessions were conducted in partnership with the Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO) of Cagwait headed by Mr. Neptalie D. Palero, together with agricultural staff/coordinators Ms. Hazel M. Tato and Mr. Dan Fred B. Dapiasan, who served as resource persons.
Participants were equipped with practical knowledge and appropriate agricultural techniques aimed at enhancing productivity and sustainability.
On the second day, the participants took part in by policy formulation and planning workshops for the establishment and sustainable management of the IADDA-CREP Farm. Key discussions focused on the creation of an Indigenous Political Organization (IPO) dedicated solely to the IADDA-CREP Project, the integration of the benefit-sharing scheme stated in the Ancestral Domain Sustainable Development and Protection Plan (ADSDPP) into the project framework, and the strengthening of the Indigenous Political Structure (IPS) of the Manobo ICCs/IPs of Cagwait to promote effective governance and active community participation.
Through the collaborative efforts of NCIP, partner agencies, and the Indigenous communities, the IADDA-CREP initiative continues to pave the way toward improved socio-economic conditions, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and strengthened self-governance among the Manobo ICCs/IPs of Cagwait.
The project reflects a shared commitment to empowering Indigenous communities while preserving their cultural identity and promoting inclusive development.

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) facilitated the Validation and Consultation regarding the Free and Prior Informed Consent (FPIC) application of DENR Caraga Region โ CENRO Lianga for the proposed Small Water Impounding System (SWIS) Project located at Purok 9, Bishop, Barangay Bolhoon, San Miguel, Surigao del Sur on May 12, 2026.
The activity was attended by the Manobo ICCs/IPs of Barangay Bolhoon headed by SAMMICC IPO Chairman, Hawudon Aly B. Montenegro.
Present during the activity were DENR personnel led by CENR Officer of Lianga, For. Joseph E. Langanlangan, together with other staff of CENRO Lianga. Also present were the Project Contractor, Mr. Carlo Rosios, Chief RPS-PENRO SDS, Engr. Ramonito Lagahit, Barangay Kagawad of Bolhoon, San Miguel, MENRO of LGU San Miguel, For. Corazon M. Laggui, and a representative from the 75th Infantry Battalion, Philippine Army.
Highlights of the activity were the presentation of NCIP Administrative Order No. 3, Series of 2012 or the Revised Guidelines on FPIC and Related Processes of 2012, presentation of the proposed SWIS Project by DENR/CENRO Lianga, and consultation with the concerned ICCs/IPs regarding the proposed project.
The activity was successfully conducted with the participation and cooperation of all attendees.
