Nagsimula noong Oktubre 5, 2026 sa OPAg South Cotabato Demo Farm, Banga, South Cotabato ang Training on Sustainable Community Vegetable Value Chain and Introduction to New Varieties under the Gulayan sa Bayan (GSB) Project – Batch 2, na nilahukan ng mga GSB beneficiaries mula sa probinsya ng Sarangani, South Cotabato at Sultan Kudarat.

Pinangunahan ni Ms. Kissciel Arao-Arao, Alternate Focal Person ng HVCD Program, ang expectation setting at talakayan sa Overview of the GSB Project at Market-Driven Enhancement of Vegetable Value Chain (MV2C), na nagsilbing pundasyon ng training.

Tinalakay ni Ms. Donna D. Cabahug, Agricultural Technologist mula sa OMAg Surallah, ang Basic Market Survey, habang sina Ms. Katherine May V. Morandante, Agricultural Technician II, at Mr. Reynan H. Dumaraog, Senior Agriculturist, kapwa mula sa DA-RFO XII Regional Soils Laboratory, ay nagbahagi ng kaalaman sa Soil Nutrient Management at nagsagawa ng aktuwal na soil testing and analysis kasama ang mga kalahok.

Samantala, ibinahagi ni Mr. John Phillip C. Hechanova, Agriculturist I ng OPAg South Cotabato, ang mga teknolohiya sa grafted seedlings at bagong vegetable varieties para sa off-season production.

Sa pamamagitan ng pagsasanib ng market assessment, soil testing, at makabagong teknolohiya sa produksyon, layunin ng training na higit pang mapalakas ang kakayahan ng GSB beneficiaries na pamahalaan ang kanilang community gardens tungo sa mas produktibo, sustenable, at market-oriented na produksyon ng gulay.

The Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII), through its Livestock Program, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office XII (DA-RFO XII) and the SOCCSKSARGEN Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (SOXAARRDEC), successfully conducted the Training Swine Production and Financial Management for AEWs and INSPIRE Beneficiaries on October 7-9, 2026 at ATI-RTC XII, San Felipe, Tantangan, South Cotabato.

The training commenced with the Welcome Message delivered by Dr. Jessie V. Beldia, OIC-Center Director of ATI-RTC XII, wherein he emphasized the importance of continuous learning, skills enhancement, and capacity development in strengthening the knowledge and competencies of swine producers and other industry stakeholders. He also encouraged the participants to apply the knowledge and technologies gained from the training to strengthen their swine enterprises, promote sustainable production, and contribute to the recovery and continued growth of the swine industry.

Ms. Praise D. Aniscal, TSS I/Alternate Livestock Focal Person, presented the Training Course Overview, highlighting key topics in the training and the importance of combining sound production practices with effective financial management to help participants make informed decisions and develop more sustainable and profitable swine enterprises. Meanwhile, Mr. Errol Chris A. Laspiñas, Agriculturist I and Livestock Focal Person, delivered the Response Message, expressing appreciation to the participants, resource persons, and partner agencies and encouraging the practical application of the knowledge gained.

The technical sessions featured discussions on key aspects of swine production. Dr. Vic Laurence P. Oliva discussed Module I: Swine Management, covering Housing for Sustainable Pig Farming and Swine Health and Nutrition. Meanwhile, Dr. Mary Joy S. Cañolas served as a resource person and discussed Swine Breeds and Breeding, providing participants with essential knowledge in selecting appropriate breeds and applying sound breeding practices.

On the second day, Dr. Mitzi Aileen M. Alba discussed Pig Farming Profitability and Financial Literacy & Management. Participants also engaged in a group activity on budgeting, production cost computation, and income analysis.

On the third day, Ms. Rosemarie G. Nono discussed the Value of Savings, Credit Windows, and Filipino Values, emphasizing financing opportunities and the importance of responsible financial management, perseverance, and integrity in sustaining swine enterprises.

The training aims to enhance the knowledge, technical competencies, and entrepreneurial skills of INSPIRE beneficiaries, equipping them with practical and applicable technologies in swine production. Through these learning opportunities, ATI-RTC XII seeks to empower beneficiaries to improve their production practices, overcome industry challenges, and contribute to a more sustainable, resilient, and productive livestock sector in Region XII.

🌴 PCA Region XII — Serbisyong tapat para sa bawat magniniyog!

Wheelie, the Agri-Extension on Wheels of ATI-RTC XII joins the Super El Niño Caravan of Office of the Municipal Agriculturist - Tupi, today, October 8, 2026 at Barangay Miasong, Tupi, South Cotabato.

Wheelie distributed IECs materials, specifically IEC on El Niño, while Engr. Teofilo T. Jumawan, Jr., Planning Officer II, discussed the role the ATI play in information dissemination. He also presented various water saving tips that can help farmers conserve their water supply.

Topics related to Early Warning, Super El Niño Situations and Impacts, Crop Management and Livestock were also presented. PCIC also presented various crop insurance that the farmers can avail.

Present also during the caravan were Mr. Roszhien M. Agustin, the Municipal Agriculturist of Tupi who gave his welcome address, Mr. Pablito V. Escobillo, the Barangay Captain of Barangay Miasong, and Mr. Jeric DC. Sim, the Senior Agriculturist of OMAG-Tupi.

The caravan is an initiative of OMAG-Tupi that aims to strengthen information dissemination and raise farmers’ awareness about the expected Super El Niño, which may bring extreme heat to the country.

ATI-RTC XII kicks-off the 2nd NAFES Month Celebration through a NAFES-themed Poster-Making Contest for ATI Staff Monday, October 5, 2026 at ATI-RTC XII, San Felipe, Tantangan, South Cotabato.

This year's theme entitled 'Extension at Work: Empowering Communities, Sustaining Growth', four (4) ATI-RTC XII staff joined the Poster Making Activity, in which the participants communicated their interpretation of the theme through a visual storytelling, symbolism, imagery, color and composition.

Maricar C. Jacinto, the Admin Support Staff from the Office of the Center Director won the first place, while Rosemarie G. Nono, Admin Support Staff from the Admin and Finance Unit took the 2nd place. Marnil B. Del Monte, the Media Production Specialist II won the 3rd place, and Juaren D. Conde, Technical Support Staff of Career Development and Management Section placed 4th.

The posters were judged through the given criteria in its relevance to the theme which constitute to 40%, creativity and originality with 25%, visual impact and message with 20% and composition and overall presentation with 15%.

ATI-RTC XII OIC-Center Director, Dr. Jessie V. Beldia, Mr. Andy I. Ango, Supervising Agriculturist of DA-RFO XII, and Ms. Shahana Joy Duerme-Mangasar, Information Officer III of PIA XII serves as judges during the NAFES-themes Poster Making Contest for ATI-RTC XII.

The activity ended with a closing message of ATI-OIC Asst. Center Director, Hannadi S. Guiamad-Pompong in which she underscores the Center's commitment in its continuous effort in empowering all of the Center's stakeholders including the Center's workforce.
