On March 26, 2026, DTI Cavite, led by Acting Provincial Director Lilibeth R. Chavez and OIC BDD Chief Julita C. Salvacion, paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Francisco โ€œKikoโ€ Barzaga, Congressman of the 4th District of Cavite, to present DTIโ€™s accomplishments and its ongoing programs and services as well as issues/concerns/recommendations the Congressman may have regarding DTI programs and services.

The discussion also covered the current issue of rising oil prices and its impact on the cost of goods and services. DTIโ€™s efforts in monitoring basic necessities and prime commodities to ensure fair pricing and protect consumers were also discussed.

Ms. Isabel Punzalan, President of the Food Processors Association of Cavite was also present during the meeting and shared key concerns of local food processors, particularly the effect of rising production costs.

The meeting provided an opportunity to raise these concerns and seek possible support to strengthen Caviteโ€™s food processing sector.

On March 19, 2026, DTI Cavite, represented by OIC Division Chief Julita C. Salvacion, participated in a collaboration meeting at the City of Imus.

The meeting was hosted by the City Government of Imus and attended by Hon. Mayor Alex Advincula, Councilor Mark Villanueva, Chairperson of the Committee on Trade, Commerce, and Industry, and Ms. Jhett Vilbar-Lungcay, Head of the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO). Representatives from PTTC โ€“ Global Academy, led by Executive Director Clare Mari Torralba and Danica Lozada, were also present.

The discussion focused on the program โ€œEmpowering Cavite Exporters for the South Korean Market,โ€ which aims to equip local exporters with the knowledge and support needed to access international markets, and the localization of the OTOP Program to further support MSME growth and expand market opportunities.

DTI Cavite, through Negosyo Center Magallanes in partnership with the Business Licensing Office, conducted the seminar โ€œCounting for Change: Basic Accounting and Bookkeeping for an Inclusive Societyโ€ on March 13, 2026, in Magallanes, Cavite.

Held in line with the celebration of National Womenโ€™s Month, the activity gathered women entrepreneurs and representatives from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The seminar provided participants with essential knowledge and practical skills in basic accounting and bookkeeping to help them effectively manage their finances and sustain their businesses.

Resource Speaker Ms. Mildred Ladao led an interactive discussion and facilitated a workshop to further reinforce participants' understanding of key concepts.

Through this initiative, DTI continues to demonstrate its commitment to empowering entrepreneurs, particularly women, by equipping them with the necessary tools and competencies to strengthen and grow their businesses.

The Municipality of Magallanes celebrated its 110th Founding Anniversary and Muscovado Festival on March 12, 2026, with the theme โ€œPayak na Pinagmulan, Maunlad at Maningning na Pamayanan.โ€

One of the highlights of the morning program was the Muscovado Festival cooking competition, where participants prepared creative dishes using muscovado as the main ingredient, promoting one of Magallanesโ€™ known local products. In the afternoon, barangays competed in a kubo-building contest using coconut and bamboo materials, symbolizing appreciation for the hardworking farmers who contribute to the municipalityโ€™s local economy.

Representing the Department of Trade and Industry, DTI Cavite Business Counselor Mhea Alindugan served as one of the judges for both the cooking and kubo-building competitions, highlighting the agencyโ€™s continued support in promoting local products and strengthening micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
