KNHS Serves Pinikpikan, Pumps Up Zumba, and Powers Up Leadership in Triple Celebration
JULY 27, 2026— Kalanguya National High School (KNHS) proved that one event can nourish the body, challenge the mind, celebrate history, and cultivate leadership as it successfully held the culmination of Nutrition Month, the Oath-Taking Ceremony of newly elected student leaders, and the Foundation Day Celebration in a day filled with learning, culture, and camaraderie.
The school campus came alive as students, faculty members, parents, and guests gathered to celebrate three significant occasions through activities that showcased teamwork, healthy living, cultural appreciation, and responsible leadership. The event was spearheaded under the leadership of School Principal Mr. Benedict C. Danao, whose continued support made the celebration a meaningful and memorable success.
New Leaders Ready to Lead
One of the day's highlights was the oath-taking ceremony of the newly elected Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) officers, Grade 7 to Grade 12 class officers, and officers of the Math and Science Club, English Club, Filipino Club, TLE Club, Barkada Kontra Droga (BKD) Club, and YES-O Club.
The oath was administered by Hon. Bonifacio Dumanop, who challenged the newly elected leaders to become servants rather than mere title holders. In his inspirational message, he emphasized that "Without TEAMWORK, an organization will not function." His challenge reminded every officer that effective leadership begins with collaboration, responsibility, and a shared commitment to serving the school community.
Pinikpikan Steals the Show
The Nutrition Month celebration gave students an opportunity to blend culinary skills with cultural appreciation as participants prepared the well-loved Igorot delicacy Pinikpikan, complemented by a nutritious sautéed vegetable side dish.
The cooking activity highlighted the importance of eating healthy while preserving indigenous traditions, proving that good nutrition can proudly go hand in hand with cultural heritage.
If leadership fuels the future, then Pinikpikan certainly fueled the celebration.
Dance, Draw, and Discover
The campus turned into a lively fitness arena as Grade 7 to Grade 10 students energized the audience with synchronized Zumba performances, promoting physical fitness and active lifestyles in line with this year's Nutrition Month celebration.
Meanwhile, budding artists expressed their creativity during the Poster Making Contest, producing artworks that encouraged healthy living and proper nutrition.
Brains also took center stage during the much-awaited Quiz Bee, where contestants competed in answering questions about Nutrition, the history and foundation of Kalanguya National High School, and Leadership. Participants demonstrated impressive knowledge and quick thinking, making the competition both educational and exciting.
Remembering the School's Journey
As part of the Foundation Day celebration, selected Grade 10 students captivated the audience through a moving spoken poetry performance that narrated the story of how Kalanguya National High School became an independent institution.
Their presentation highlighted the Republic Act 9883 which serves as the legal basis for the school's independence, reminding the KNHS community of its humble beginnings and the people whose efforts paved the way for the school's growth. The performance inspired students to value the institution's history while continuing to build upon its legacy.
Learning Beyond Four Walls
The culminating activity also demonstrated the integration of classroom learning in the subjects MAPEH&PE, Homeroom, and Technology and Livelihood Education (TLE) as one of the performance tasks. By combining these learning areas, students experienced firsthand how lessons learned inside the classroom can be applied through meaningful and engaging activities.
Following the completion of the scheduled activities, regular classes immediately resumed after the allotted periods for MAPEH&PE, Homeroom, and TLE, ensuring that academic instruction continued smoothly while maximizing the educational value of the celebration.
More Than a Celebration
More than colorful performances, delicious food, and exciting competitions, KNHS's triple celebration became a testament to the school's commitment to producing learners who are healthy, culturally aware, academically competent, and ready to lead.
From taking an oath to serving Pinikpikan, from dancing to Zumba beats to honoring the school's history through spoken poetry, every activity reflected one powerful message—that leadership thrives through unity, education grows through experience, and, as Hon. Bonifacio Dumanop reminded everyone, without teamwork, an organization will not function.
Indeed, Kalanguya National High School once again showed that when minds work together, traditions are honored, and leadership is nurtured, the school does more than celebrate—it creates lasting memories and builds future leaders.
