2 Outstanding Achievement Awards were presented to LGU Toledo City by the League of Local Planners Region Vll today.

First is presented to City of Toledo, Cebu in recognition to the successful formulation and approval of your Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP).

Second is presented to EnP. Daryl Carabio to his remarkable contributions and dedication to the formulation and approval of the city’s CLUP.

Toledo City was part of the 21 LGUs in Region 7 recognized for the CLUP formulation and approval. The awarding ceremony was part of the Regional Conference 2024, a 5-day event hosted by the League of Local Planners in Region Vll which was held at Dohera Hotel, Mandaue City, Cebu.

The CPDO would like to thank Mayor Marjorie “Joie” Perales and Vice-Mayor Engr. Jay Blanco Sigue and the rest of the city council for their undying support to us. We would also like to thank the CLUP-TWG and everyone else who contributed directly and indirectly for the completion of this great endeavor.

A city’s identity is a unique, inherited collection of natural assets, heritage, economy, political influence, social structure, and culture that distinguishes it from others. Land use-based planning, though vital for urban development, cannot address these context specific aspects.

Form based codes (FBCs) go a step ahead and consider the relationship between building facades and the public realm, the form and mass of buildings in relation to one another, and the scale and types of streets and built mass. Therefore, imparting a character to the development and not only distinguishing land use types.

Adopting form-based regulations in Asian cities will help revive and recreate their unique identities. UNICITI’s initiative A Third Way of Building Asian Cities aims to develop planning regulations and design guidelines using FBCs to create liveable, affordable, sustainable, and unique Asian cities.
