CPD Region II joins the Philippine Statistics Authority in celebrating the 37th National Statistics Month (NSM) with the theme "Tuklas Pilipinas: Statistics as Beacon Towards Inclusive, Resilient, and Sustainable Tourism" this October 2026.

The NSM is observed annually nationwide to: a) promote, enhance, and instill nationwide awareness and appreciation of the importance and value of statistics to the different sectors of the society; and b) elicit the cooperation and support of the general public in upgrading the quality and standard of statistics in the country.

Also, the theme highlights the crucial role of statistics in empowering data-driven insights in gearing the tourism sector towards a more inclusive, resilient, and community-centered development.

People as the most valuable resource highlights the 2026 Regional Migration and Development Forum

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan — The Regional Development Council II - Social Development Committee, Sub-Committee on Migration and Development, successfully held the Regional Migration and Development Forum today, September 29, 2026, at Go Hotels, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan focusing on the theme: "Strengthening Labor Migration and Development Governance."

The activity gathered representatives from different government line agencies (RLAs), local government units and overseas Filipino workers (OFW) associations in the Cagayan Valley region to discuss the interplay of migration, population dynamics, policy directions, as well as maximizing the economic gains of migration towards regional development.

CPD Region II celebrates Family Day with a CookFest

To make this year's Family Day celebration more fun and exciting, CPD Region II conducted the 2026 Healthy Dessert Cooking Festival on September 28, 2026.

The activity promoted healthy eating, creativity, teamwork, and camaraderie among employees through the preparation and presentation of desserts that were both nutritious and delicious.

Staff were divided into four groups inspired by the core elements of the Commission's Ginhawa Framework (Health and Wellness Program): Gaan, Gana, Sigla, and Saya.

Team Sigla was named champion for its "Oat! My Sweet Potato” dessert, a tart with a mix of rolled oats and sweet potato crust, filled with whole eggs and non-fat milk, topped with toasted sesame seeds, and glazed with condensed milk.

The Family Day celebration is in observance of the 34th National Family Week, pursuant to Proclamation No. 60, series of 1992, which declared the last week of September of every year as Family Week, and Proclamation No. 326, series of 2012, which declared the fourth Monday of September of every year as “Kainang Pamilya Mahalaga” Day.

Twenty-five members of the Agta community in Sitio Bagsang, Barangay Sta. Clara, Gonzaga, Cagayan, took part in an orientation on Responsible Parenthood and Family Planning (RPFP) on September 24, 2026.

The session helped participants understand how RPFP can protect the health of mothers and children and give families a better chance to meet their needs for food, health care, and education.

Trained health care providers from the Municipal Health Office of Gonzaga also offered FP services to women of reproductive age who expressed their intention to use the modern FP method of their choice.

The activity was led by Ms. Renie A. Imperio, Municipal Social Welfare and Development Officer and Municipal Population Officer-Designate, as one of the highlights of the 2026 World Population Day Celebration.

The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Region II and the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Field Office 2 convened a consultation meeting today to align regional efforts in strengthening the social safety net for the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) beneficiaries.

The meeting served as a platform for both agencies to coordinate strategies and reinforce collaborative mechanisms aimed at improving support systems for 4Ps beneficiaries across Region 2.

During the discussion, CPD Region II presented its accomplishments for 2025 and commitments for 2027, to address gaps identified in the Social Welfare and Development Indicators (SWDI).

Tuguegarao City, Cagayan, September 18, 2026 — The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) Region II, in partnership with the Zonta Club of Tuguegarao (ZCT) and with the support of the local government unit of Baggao, oriented adolescent indigenous peoples (IPs) from Barangays Hacienda Intal, Sta. Margarita, and Mabini in Baggao, Cagayan, on critical adolescent sexual and reproductive health information to advance inclusive development. The activity was held on September 15, 2026, at the barangay gymnasium of Sta. Margarita.
