The Department of Health, in partnership with local government units, is implementing the Measles–Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MR-SIA), or “𝐋𝐢𝐠𝐭𝐚𝐬 𝐓𝐢𝐠𝐝𝐚𝐬” campaign, in response to the recent increase in measles cases at the provincial, regional, and national levels. Measles is a highly contagious disease that can lead to serious complications, particularly among young children. 𝐕𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞-𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐩𝐮𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐜 𝐡𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 to prevent outbreaks, protect vulnerable populations, and reduce further transmission within our communities.

The Office of the Provincial Health Officer (OPHO) is aware of the circulating Facebook post regarding an alleged adverse event following immunization (AEFI) death reportedly linked to the MR-SIA in a neighboring province. We acknowledge the public’s concerns and extend our sincere sympathy to the family involved. All reported adverse events following immunization are carefully investigated and validated by the Department of Health and appropriate health authorities to determine their true cause.

We strongly reassure the public that 𝐦𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐥𝐞𝐬–𝐫𝐮𝐛𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐚 𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐚𝐟𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐮𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝𝐰𝐢𝐝𝐞, protecting millions of children from measles, rubella, and their serious complications. These vaccines undergo strict safety screening and are continuously monitored through established surveillance systems.

The OPHO further assures parents and caregivers that health workers implementing the MR-SIA are properly trained, fully capable, and well prepared to monitor, recognize, and promptly manage any adverse events following immunization. Vaccination teams strictly adhere to standard safety protocols and are equipped to provide appropriate medical care when necessary.

The public is reminded that in any eventuality following vaccination—particularly if symptoms are unusual, persistent, or concerning—immediate consultation with the nearest health facility or a qualified health professional is strongly advised to ensure timely assessment and management.

The OPHO urges the public to verify information through official and reliable sources and to refrain from sharing unverified or misleading content that may cause unnecessary fear and confusion. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Mga magulang, isang bakuna lang ang pagitan ng inyong anak at panganib.
Huwag nang maghintay—dalhin na ngayon ang mga batang edad 6–59 buwan sa pinakamalapit na health center.

💚 𝘽𝙖𝙠𝙪𝙣𝙖𝙙𝙤, 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙩𝙚𝙠𝙩𝙖𝙙𝙤.
❌ Hindi bakunado, delikado.

Para sa kaligtasan ng ating mga anak—kumilos na ngayon.

Parenting guide‼️Kailangan ba uminom ng vitamins kapag may ubo at sipon ang bata?

Karaniwang ginagawa nating mga Pinoy ang pagbibigay ng vitamins kapag matamlay o may sakit ang bata, pero mahalagang malaman ang tamang impormasyon tungkol dito.

Ang maikling sagot ay: Hindi "gamot" ang vitamins para sa ubo at sipon, pero maaari itong makatulong sa pagpapalakas ng resistensya.

Narito ang ilang mahahalagang punto na dapat mong isaalang-alang:

✅1. Ang Vitamins ay Hindi "Cure"

☝🏽Ang ubo at sipon ay karaniwang sanhi ng virus (viral infection). Walang vitamins na nakakapatay sa virus nang direkta.

☝🏽Ang Vitamin C at Zinc ay nakakatulong lamang para "suportahan" ang immune system ng bata para mas mabilis niyang malabanan ang sakit.

✅2. Mas Importante ang Hydration at Pahinga

Sa halip na umasa lang sa vitamins, mas mainam na tutukan ang mga sumusunod:

☝🏽Tubig at Sabaw: Pinakaimportante ang pananatiling hydrated para lumabnaw ang plema at hindi matuyuan ang lalamunan.

☝🏽Sapat na Tulog: Dito nagre-repair ang katawan ng bata.

☝🏽Masustansyang Pagkain: Mas mabilis ma-absorb ng katawan ang vitamins na galing sa prutas at gulay kaysa sa mga syrup.

✅3. Kailan ba Talaga Kailangan ng Supplement?

Maaaring i-rekomenda ng doktor ang vitamins kung:

☝🏽Picky eater ang bata at hindi nakakakuha ng sapat na nutrisyon sa pagkain.

☝🏽Madalas magkasakit ang bata (low immunity).

☝🏽May specific na deficiency o kakulangan sa nutrition na nakita ang pediatrician.

⚠️Paalala:
Huwag basta-basta magbibigay ng mataas na dose ng vitamins nang hindi nagtatanong sa doktor.
⚠️Ang sobrang Vitamin C ay maaaring magsanhi ng diarrhea, at ang sobrang Zinc ay maaaring magdulot ng pagduduwal.

📌Babala: Kung ang ubo ay may kasamang mataas na lagnat, hirap sa paghinga, o tumatagal na ng higit sa isang linggo, mainam na dalhin na agad sa pediatrician.

🤔Dok, ilan beses ba dapat ipainom ang Vitamin C kapag may sakit?
-ang pag-inom ng Vitamin C ay karaniwang isang beses (1x) sa isang araw lamang.

-Kahit may sakit ang bata, hindi nangangahulugan na mas maraming beses silang iinom ay mas mabilis silang gagaling.

📌Narito ang dapat mong tandaan tungkol sa tamang dosage:

1. "Water-Soluble" ang Vitamin C

Ang Vitamin C ay hindi nagi-stay sa katawan. Kapag uminom ang bata ng sobra sa kailangan niya, lalabas lang ito sa kanyang ihi. Sayang lang ang vitamins kung papainumin sila ng maraming beses dahil hindi rin ito ma-aabsorb ng katawan nang sabay-sabay.

2. Gabay sa Dami (Depende sa Edad)

Ang bawat supplement ay may iba't ibang milligrams (mg).

3. Delikado ba ang Sobrang Vitamin C?

Hindi naman ito nakakalason agad, pero ang sobrang Vitamin C ay maaaring magdulot ng:

☝🏽Pagsakit ng tiyan o cramps
☝🏽Pagtatae (Diarrhea)
☝🏽Pagduduwal (Nausea)

*Tandaan na ang pagbigay ng gamot gaya ng vitamins ay nakadepende sa inyong Doktor.
Eto ay gabay lamang.

Rapid Coverage Assessment/Monitoring to ensure that all the children were vaccinated and make sure the missed children will be vaccinated before the supplemental immunization activity will end next week.
The team also had a chance to feedback the result of the said assessment/monitoring to our Punong barangay.
