The government has issued guidelines for the distribution of ayuda or assistance to Filipino indigent families affected by the ECQ or lockdown in the Greater Manila Area.

Budget Sec. Wendel Avisado earlier said nearly P23 billion was set aside for the aid which would benefit Filipinos in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Laguna, Cavite, and Rizal.

Here's what you should know about the aid distribution based on joint guidelines issued by the Department of Social Welfare and Development, and the Department of the Interior and Local Government:

Who is qualified for ayuda?
The following are priority target beneficiaries of the assistance:

☑️low-income individuals and those working in informal economies who were beneficiaries of the first tranche of the Social Amelioration Program
☑️beneficiaries of the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program
☑️wait-listed beneficiaries of the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program
☑️those belonging to vulnerable groups such as low-income individuals living alone, persons with disabilities (PWD), solo parents, and the like
☑️other individuals who will be deemed eligible by their respective local government units based on the availability of funds

In March 2020, the Philippines faced one of its toughest challenges yet: the Coronavirus Disease 2019, more popularly known as “COVID-19”.

Declared by the World Health Organization (WHO) as a global pandemic, the disease rapidly spread in the months that followed, bringing the confirmed cases to over 30,000 in the country by June 2020.

In a bid to prevent further spread of the virus, the government initially enforced the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ), affecting the livelihood of many Filipinos, especially the poorest and most vulnerable families.

Phillipine Risk and Calamity Assistance Organization (PRCAO) is the forum where organizations share knowledge and resources throughout the disaster cycle—preparation, response and recovery—to help disaster survivors and their communities.

Members of Phillipine Risk and Calamity Assistance Organization (PRCAO) form a coalition of nonprofit organizations that respond to disasters as part of their overall mission. Phillipine Risk and Calamity Assistance Organization (PRCAO) was founded in December 28, 2019.

Prior to the founding of Phillipine Risk and Calamity Assistance Organization (PRCAO), numerous organizations served disaster victims independently of one another. These included both government and the private, nonprofit sector. As a result, help came to the disaster victim haphazardly as various organizations assisted in specific ways. Unnecessary duplication of effort often occurred, while at the same time, other needs were not met. There was only limited availability of training for potential volunteers. Information for victims on services during disasters was woefully inadequate and communication among voluntary disaster agencies was very limited and coordination of services was negligible.

The seven founding organizations came together and committed to fostering the four C’s—communication, coordination, collaboration, and cooperation in order to better serve people impacted by disasters. Today, Phillipine Risk and Calamity Assistance Organization (PRCAO) is a leader and voice for the nonprofit organizations and volunteers that work in all phases of disaster—preparedness, response, relief, recovery, and mitigation. Phillipine Risk and Calamity Assistance Organization (PRCAO) is the primary point of contact for voluntary organization in the National Response Coordination Center (at FEMA headquarters) and is a signatory to the National Response Plan.
