STRENGTHENING PARTNERSHIPS FOR LOONANON OFWs AND THEIR FAMILIES!

The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Loon, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) headed by the PESO Manager Maricris M. Maestrado, conducted a Coordination Meeting with OWWA Region VII today to discuss proposed programs, activities, and support services for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and their dependents in the Municipality of Loon.
The meeting was held under the leadership of the Municipal Mayor, Cesar Tomas M. Lopez, M.D., represented by the Municipal Administrator, Lloyd Peter M. Lopez, M.D., together with the delegation of OWWA Region VII headed by OIC Regional Director Dineza Z. Gelle.
The coordination meeting served as an important avenue to strengthen collaboration between LGU Loon and OWWA Region VII in developing meaningful initiatives that will promote the welfare, empowerment, and well-being of OFWs and their families.
Discussions focused on possible collaborative activities and support mechanisms that will provide opportunities for family development, livelihood, skills enhancement, financial literacy, and other relevant services for Loonanon OFWs and their dependents.
Through this strengthened partnership, LGU Loon and OWWA Region VII reaffirm their shared commitment to recognizing the invaluable contributions of our modern-day heroes and ensuring that their families receive appropriate support and opportunities for a better future.
Together, we will continue to support, empower, and build resilient OFW families in Loon!

Jacob R. Sevilla Takes Oath as Newly Appointed Municipal Civil Registrar of Loon

LOON, BOHOL | October 9, 2026 — Jacob R. Sevilla (second from the left) took his oath of office today as the newly appointed Municipal Civil Registrar of the Municipality of Loon, Bohol, before Municipal Mayor Cesar Tomas M. Lopez, M.D.
The ceremony was witnessed by Sevilla’s family, Human Resource Management Officer III Melquiades E. Maestrado, and Municipal Administrator Lloyd Peter M. Lopez, M.D.
The Municipality of Loon congratulates Sevilla on his appointment and looks forward to his service in strengthening the delivery of efficient, accurate, and responsive civil registration services for the people of Loon.

📢ATTENTION: LOONANONS | RECRUITMENT & SELECTION OF SEASONAL FARM WORKERS FOR WANJU-GUN, JEONBUK PROVINCE, REPUBLIC OF KOREA

Following the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Municipality of Loon and Wanju-gun, Republic of Korea, on March 12, 2026, LGU-Loon formally announces the opening of recruitment and initial screening for the Seasonal Agricultural Worker Program.

Interested applicants are advised to prepare and submit the following initial requirements:

📋 INITIAL REQUIREMENTS

1️⃣ RESIDENCY
• Must be a resident of the Municipality of Loon for more than 12 months
-Barangay Certificate of Residency stating the date and length of residency

2️⃣ AGE REQUIREMENT
• 24 to 39 years old
- PSA/MCR - issued Birth Certificate
- Photocopy of a valid government-issued ID

3️⃣ WORK EXPERIENCE
• Must be an Agricultural Worker
- Certificate of Agricultural/Farming Work (or equivalent proof) from Municipal Agriculture Office or Barangay

4️⃣ ACCOMPLISHED APPLICATION FORM
• Applicants may secure the Application Form at the LGU-Loon HRMO or PESO

🖊️ Note: Knowledge of basic Korean language/conversation is an advantage/plus.

🗓️ APPLICATION PERIOD
• October 12, 2026 – October 26, 2026

• Compile all application documents accordingly into a LONG WHITE FOLDER.

Please be guided by the following:

* Work Suspension: 1:00 PM onwards, September 28, 2026
* Resumption of Regular Office Operations: Tuesday, September 29, 2026
* Basic and essential services, including health, disaster response, and other vital services, shall continue as required.

Residents are advised to complete urgent transactions before the suspension of work.

LGU Loon Paid Respect to Vicente Cubero

Before the 84th commemoration of the Battle of Moalong began, municipal officials gathered at the Loon Cemetery to offer prayers and flowers at the grave of Vicente Cubero, also known as Francisco Salazar—the man who led the successful ambush at Moalong.

Joined by the Loon Parish Vicar, who blessed his grave, the municipal heads paid tribute to a figure whose courage became part of Loon’s wartime story.

It serves as a gentle reminder that before history becomes a commemoration, it is first a story carried by people and remembered by those who came after.

MOALONG STILL REMEMBERS

The Municipality of Loon commemorated the 84th Battle of Moalong anniversary, honoring the courage behind the successful ambush that became part of Loon’s wartime history.

Municipal officials led by Mayor Yul Lopez, Vice Mayor Dodong Literatus, and the members of the Sangguniang Bayan joined the post-war veterans in remembering those who stood their ground when history came to the bridge we all know.

But remembrance was not confined to speeches and wreaths. Loon’s talents took the stage, while the Floater Contest brought a different kind of tribute to the Moalong River—turning flowers and candles into floating works of remembrance, to be carried gently by the very waters that witnessed the past.

From the riverbanks of yesterday to the Loonanons of today, Moalong remembers—and Loon continues to tell its story.
