In response to the recent increase in petroleum prices and its potential impact on local market prices, the City Government of Valenzuela, through the Consumer Welfare Unit (CWU) under the Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO), conducted monitoring activities in different gasoline stations, supermarkets, grocery stores, and wet markets around Valenzuela City on March 9-13, 2026.

These efforts aim to ensure that establishments within the city remain compliant with government pricing regulations and maintain fair pricing practices for consumers.

In line with this initiative, from March 10-16, 2026, a memorandum will be issued to fuel retailers and various retail establishments to reiterate the importance of adhering to fuel pricing guidance from the Department of Energy (DOE), maintaining transparency in price adjustments, and complying with consumer protection laws.

The monitoring activities also serve as part of the city’s continuing commitment to safeguard consumer welfare by ensuring that prices of fuel and essential commodities remain within reasonable and regulated ranges.

Investment Promotions Office (LEDIPO), is currently looking for Micro, Small
and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) who are interested in being part of future city
government-led events, programs and activities.

The Valenzuela Local Economic Development and Investment Promotions Office – Consumer Welfare Unit, in coordination with the City Treasurer’s Office, conducted an Operation Timbangan inspection on February 6, 2026, at Gen. T. de Leon Market and Karuhatan Market.

The inspection resulted in the confiscation of eighteen (18) non-compliant weighing scales. Eleven (11) defective or uncalibrated scales were seized from Gen. T. de Leon Market, while seven (7) defective or uncalibrated scales were confiscated from Karuhatan Market. In addition, several vendors were found using weighing instruments without official seals.

This activity supports the City’s ongoing efforts to promote fair trade and protect consumer welfare in public markets.
