BRP Juan Magluyan (PC392) once again brought aid and relief goods to the far-flung communities in the Province of Tawi-Tawi last 09 and 10 September 2021. The program, dubbed as All-in-One Bayanihan, was conducted at Panguan Island and Panitayan Floating Village in partnership with MBLT12, 2nd Marine Brigade, MSSD- BARMM, LGU Sitangkai, JBLCI and civilian volunteers. COL ROMEO T RACADIO PN(M), the Commander of Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi graced the event as the Guest of Honor and Speaker.

BRP Juan Magluyan (PC392) transported approximately eight (8) tons of cargoes consisting mainly of 211 boxes of welfare goods from MSSD-BARMM, 6 boxes of canned products, 30 gallons of mineral water, 5000 liters of fresh water and three (3) 1600-Liter capacity water tanks

As part of the activity, military personnel and civilian volunteers conducted feeding program, free haircut, and distribution of food packs and water. Medical and Dental check-ups were likewise conducted by medical doctors and staff of 2nd Marine Brigade and LGU Sitangkai. Further, lectures on Family Planning, Good Parenting and Early Childhood development were conducted by Prof Clarissa Derramas PhD from MSU and Ms Roselle Damang of MSSD-BARMM.

In Panguan Island, where JBLCI started classes just last May 2021, deserving Badjao students were given appropriate awards for their good performance and consistent attendance in school.

In Panitayan village, a blackboard, flag pole and Philippine Flag were donated by the crew of BRP Juan Magluyan (PC392). PC392 officers and crew also donated 70 mini-bags with school supplies for the children in Panitayan where informal schooling has started while waiting for the construction of a school building.

For these villages, where food and water are scarce, the welfare goods and water brought to the community will certainly alleviate their daily needs. Further, actively pursuing education for these less fortunate children will hopefully lead to a brighter future for them so that they can play a more active role in our society.

Unselfish service and strong dedication to serve propels the Navy to reach these remote Islands of the country in the hope of bridging basic government services to the marginalized sectors of society. Naval Units under Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi and Naval Forces Western Mindanao are committed to foster relationships with local communities while securing peace and facilitating development even in the farthest islands of the area of operation.

BRP Juan Magluyan (PC 392) and MBLT12 brings huminatarian mission and aid to remote island in Tawi-Tawi

Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi, April 12, 2021 — BRP Juan Magluyan (PC392) and members of MBLT12, recently brought approximately six (6) tons of construction materials, supplies and other cargoes to Panguan Island in two sorties from 06 to 09 April 2021.

The said materials will be used for the construction of a school offering free DEPED-accredited education to children of the Bajau community on the island. The project, led by Jade's Bajau Learning Center, Inc in partnership with MBLT12 and MBLT 6 of 2nd Marine Brigade, civilian donors and volunteers aims to provide formal education- starting from K1/K2 to Grade 6, for around 250 children of approximately 45 families of the Bajau community on the island.

Panguan Island, also known as Malamanok (local sama term meaning 'eat chicken'), is the southernmost island of the Philippines nearest to the border with the island of Borneo. The island, which is under the municipality of Sitangkai, hosts a detachment of 312 Marine Company, MBLT12 and a small bajau community. Due to its remote location, the area lacks access to food, potable water, and healthcare.

During the second wave of the mission, officers and men of BRP Juan Magluyan (PC392), together with MBLT12 personnel, and civilian volunteers led by couple Ma. Eleonor and Ely Erana, conducted giving of food packs sponsored by Jade's Cakes and Pastries to the locals in the island. Bread and Panggi - a staple food for the locals made from cassava, were distributed to each family while children were treated to cupcakes. Two 1,600L capacity water tanks donated by Waves for Water Orgn and Jades Learning Center Inc., were also brought to the island to store rain water - the only source of potable water in the island. Further, 80 pcs of 5-gal water containers filled with mineral water were brought and likewise distributed to the locals.

Unselfish service and strong dedication to serve propels the Navy to reach these remote islands of the country in the hope of bridging basic government services to the marginalized sectors of society. Naval units under Joint Task Force Tawi-Tawi are committed to foster good relationships with local communities while securing peace and facilitating development even in the farthest islands of the area of operation.
