The Headquarters Service Support Battalion led by LT COL DONALD J JAGUNAP PN(M), Commanding Officer, successfully conducted a Drug Awareness Seminar on 09 March 2026 at HSSBN, MBAA, Brgy Cabatangan, Zamboanga City.
Atty. Vladimir T. Jimenez, City Councilor of District 1, Zamboanga City and Chairman of the Committee on Illegal Drugs, together with personnel from the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency – Zamboanga City Office (PDEA-ZCO) served as resource speakers and instructors of the activity. They provide valuable insights on the prevail-ing illegal drug situation, relevant laws, and the governments intensified campaign against illegal drugs.
The seminar aimed to enhance the awareness and understanding of the participants regarding the dangers and adverse effects of illegal drugs on individual, families and society. Furthermore, it reinforce the unit’s commitment to promoting discipline, responsibility, and the importance of a maintaining drug-free workplace and community, consistent with the standards and value of the Philippine Marine Corps.

The Service Support Battalion conducted its First Friday Thanksgiving Mass on 06 March 2026, at Headquarters Service Support Battalion, Marine Base Arturo Asuncion (MBAA), Barangay Cabatangan, Zamboanga City, as part of its monthly spiritual enlightenment activities.
The activity aimed to strengthen the moral and spiritual foundations of Battalion personnel, promote unity within the unit, and express gratitude for the successful accomplishment of the Battalion’s mission, as well as the continued guidance and protection bestowed upon its personnel.
The mass also served as a meaningful opportunity for reflection and spiritual renewal, reminding personnel of the importance of faith, integrity, and humility in the performance of their duties. Through this activity, the unit reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing not only the physical and operational readiness of its personnel but also their spiritual well-being as they continue to serve the organization with dedication and honor.

The Headquarters Service Support Battalion led by LT COL DONALD J JAGUNAP PN(M), Commanding Officer, successfully conducted a Fire Prevention and Safety Seminar on 23 February 2026 at HSSBN, MBAA, Brgy Cabatangan, Zamboanga City. The activity aimed to strengthen fire safety awareness, enhance emergency response capabilities, and ensure the unit’s operational readiness.
The seminar was facilitated by guest instructors from the Bureau of Fire and Protection, headed by SFO3 Rashel S Castillo, from San Roque sub-station, whose expertise provided valuable insights on the fire prevention, hazard identification, and proper emergency response procedure. Their guidance reinforced the importance of vigilance, preparedness, and adherence to fire safety protocols.
Through active participation and teamwork, SSBN personnel enhanced their knowledge and readiness to respond effectively to fire-related emergencies. This initiative reflects the battalion’s continued commitment to safety, resilience, and operational excellence-emphasizing that preparedness and prevention are essential in accomplishing the mission.

The Service Support Battalion (SSBn), under the leadership of LT COL DONALD J JAGUNAP PN(M), Commanding Officer, successfully conducted Swimming Fundamentals Training aimed at enhancing water safety proficiency, physical endurance, and overall operational readiness.
The activity was facilitated by distinguished Guest Instructors from the Naval Special Operations Group-6 (NAVSOG-6) and was held at the Joaquin F. Enriques Memorial Sports Complex Swimming Pool, Baliwasan, Chico, Zamboanga City.
Through teamwork, discipline, and unwavering determination, personnel strengthened their confidence and capability in aquatic environments this training reaffirmed the Battalion’s commitment to excellence and underscored the principle that operational readiness begins with mastering the fundamentals.

On 16 February 2026, the Chief Nurse Navy COL REBECCA F RANCHES O-127252 NC (GSC), paid a formal courtesy call on the Commanding Officer Service Support Battalion, LTCOL DONALD J JAGUNAP PN(M), at Headquarters Service Support Battalion, MBAA, Brgy. Cabatangan, Zamboanga City. During her visit, discussions included the planned conduct of various trainings by The Chief Nurse Navy for medical personnel, as well as issuance of appropriate identification. The meeting also served as a productive exchange of insights aimed at strengthening medical support capabilities and enhancing coordination, responsiveness, and efficiency in the delivery of health services to supported units.

The activity was facilitated by 1LT JOAN COLUMBRES MAC of CNGH, who emphasized proper nutrition, healthy eating habits, and sustainable weight management to enhance the overall well-being and operational readiness of personnel. The initiative reinforced the Battalion’s commitment to promoting health consciousness and holistic fitness among its Marines.

The Service Support Battalion successfully conducted a Combined Opening of the BALANCE Program CY 2026, Donning of Ranks, and Retirement Ceremony at Headquarters Service Support Battalion. The activity was presided by LT COL DONALD JAGUNAP PN(M), Commanding Officer, Service Support Battalion, highlighting the significance of personnel development, recognition of merit, and honoring faithful service.
The BALANCE Program CY 2026 was launched to promote physical fitness, mental resilience, proper nutrition, and overall well-being among personnel, ensuring sustained operational readiness. The Donning of Ranks Ceremony honored MSgt Jovanni T Saile PN(M) for his exemplary performance and dedication to duty, signifying increased responsibility and professional growth. Meanwhile, MSgt Fernando B Arenas PN(M) was awarded a Plaque of Recognition upon his retirement after 26 years of dedicated and faithful service to the Philippine Marine Corps.

On 04 February 2026, the Commanding Officer of the 1st Marine Rifle Battalion, LTCOL EDGAR S BERNARDO JR PN(M), paid a courtesy call on the newly installed Commanding Officer of the Service Support Battalion, LTCOL DONALD J JAGUNAP PN(M), at Headquarters Service Support Battalion (HSSBn), MBAA, Brgy. Cabatangan, Zamboanga City. During the engagement, both Commanding Officers discussed matters of mutual support aimed at strengthening coordination, cooperation, and partnership between their respective units.

The Service Support Battalion successfully conducted its Change of Command Ceremony on 26 January 2026 held at HSSBn, Marine Base Arturo Asuncion, Barangay Cabatangan, Zamboanga City.
The ceremony marked the formal turnover of command from LTCOL RICHARD C CORDERO PN(M) the outgoing Commanding Officer to LTCOL DONALD J JAGUNAP PN(M) as the new Commanding Officer of Service Support Battalion, with COL BLADIMER B CALUYA PN(M)(GSC) Commander, SSR(P) serving as the Presiding Officer.
The event was carried out with honor, discipline, and professionalism, symbolizing continuity of leadership and the battalion’s steadfast commitment to duty and service.
