Ngayong 1 Mayo 2026, pinaparangalan natin ang bawat manggagawang Pilipino na siyang lakas ng ating ekonomiya. Mula sa pabrika hanggang sa opisina, mula sa bukid at dagat hanggang sa kalsada, patuloy nilang pinapagalaw ang ating lipunan sa kabila ng tumitinding hamon sa kabuhayan.
Sa gitna ng pagtaas ng presyo ng langis at mga pangunahing bilihin, lalong bumibigat ang pasanin ng mga manggagawa lalo na ang mga minimum ang sahod, arawan ang kita, at nasa impormal na sektor. Ang kasalukuyang krisis ay may direktang epekto sa kanilang kakayahang matugunan ang mga pangunahing pangangailangan at mamuhay nang may dignidad.
Patuloy ang panawagan ng Komisyon sa mga Karapatang Pantao para sa makatarungan, ligtas, at makataong kondisyon sa paggawa. Mahalaga ang mga agarang hakbang upang maprotektahan ang karapatan sa sapat na sahod, social protection, at access sa abot-kayang serbisyo lalo na sa panahon ng krisis.
Sama-sama tayong manindigan para sa karapatan ng bawat manggagawa at tiyaking walang maiiwan sa gitna ng tumitinding hamon sa ekonomiya.

The Commission on Human Rights convened โKapihan at Kumustahan: A Forum on Food Securityโ on April 27, 2026, at the Carlos Dominguez Conference Hall, Fr. Ernesto Carretero Building, Ateneo de Zamboanga University, bringing together stakeholders from Regions IX, X, and BARMM to advance discussions on food security.

๐จ๐๐๐ฅ ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ข๐ฌ๐ฌ๐ข๐จ๐ง๐๐ซ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ ๐ ๐๐๐ซ๐ข๐ ๐๐ฆ๐ข๐๐๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐. ๐
๐ข๐๐๐ซ-๐๐๐ฒ๐๐ฌ, reinforcing CHRโs commitment to food as a fundamental human right.
Participants from national government agencies, local government units, civil society organizations, farmers' and fisherfolk organizations, and other related offices, both on-site and online across Mindanao, demonstrated strong multi-sectoral collaboration in addressing food security challenges. Key partners included the Ateneo Center for Legal Services, Rosendo U. Castillo Jr. College of Law, the City Government of Zamboanga, the Office of Hon. Joselito Macrohon, and the Department of Agriculture Region 9.
Round-table discussions focused on key sectors: ๐๐ช๐ฎ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐ก๐๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฌ; ๐๐ ๐ซ๐ข๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๐ญ๐ฎ๐ซ๐ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฅ๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ฌ๐ญ๐จ๐๐ค; ๐ญ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ซ๐ฌ ๐๐ง๐ ๐ฏ๐๐ง๐๐จ๐ซ๐ฌ; ๐๐ง๐ ๐ก๐๐ฅ๐๐ฅ. These generated insights and data on urgent issues, policy gaps, and actionable recommendations to strengthen food systems.
The forum concluded with a shared commitment to deepen collaboration and advance inclusive, rights-based, and data-driven food security initiatives.
As CHR continues to champion the right to food, Kapihan at Kumustahan remains a vital platform for dialogue and collective action toward a more food-secure Philippines.
