PUBLIC NOTICE:

As part of our mandate to better serve the public in relation to consumer complaints, we wish to inform everyone that NTC Region IX shall officially use a single email address for receiving consumer complaints filed against respondents such as telecommunications service providers or Public Telecommunications Entities (PTEs). These consumer complaints may involve poor service, billing concerns, scams, or other similar consumer welfare protection issues.

We advise the public that only fully accomplished complaint forms, together with supporting attachments or evidence, will be accepted for immediate processing of their concerns. Complainants may also choose to file their complaints in person by visiting any NTC IX office.

NTC Region IX Receives Recognition

The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Region IX, led by OIC Regional Director Elre Galo, was honored during the Ateneo de Zamboanga University Senior High School Work Immersion Culmination held on March 19, 2026 at Salvador Hall, La Purisima Campus.

NTC Region IX Joins TWG Meeting on Proposed Ordinance for Poles, Wires, and Cables

Zamboanga City, February 5, 2026 — The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Region IX, headed by OIC Regional Director Elre V. Galo, participated in the Technical Working Group (TWG) meeting on the proposed ordinance regulating poles, wires, and cables.

The measure, authored by 2nd District Councilor Rey B. Bayoging, seeks to streamline utility infrastructure by standardizing installations, reducing visual clutter, penalizing violators, and enhancing public safety. Key provisions include the requirement for underground cabling and the consolidation of utility poles.

The TWG brought together telecommunications companies, utility providers, and both local and national government agencies to discuss feasibility, costs, and implementation strategies. Director Galo reaffirmed NTC’s support, emphasizing the importance of collaboration among stakeholders to ensure the ordinance’s effective rollout.

Councilor Bayoging highlighted that the initiative will not only improve the city’s aesthetics but also strengthen disaster resilience and promote better urban organization. The TWG’s consolidated recommendations will be submitted to the City Council for deliberation.

Fishing Companies Personnel Enhance Technical Expertise Through NTC-Led Radio Laws Training

Zamboanga City, Philippines — February 3, 2026 – The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Region 9, under the leadership of OIC-Regional Director Elre V. Galo, conducted successive Radio Operators Seminars for the personnel of Mega Fishing Corporation and YL Fishing Corporation. Held at their respective offices in Zamboanga City, the sessions were attended by Boat Captains, First Mates, and Radio Operators, to strengthen technical expertise in radio operations vital to commercial fishing fleet activities.

The discussions were led by Engr. Carlo Mario P. Jacobe I, who provided comprehensive insights on topics deemed critical by NTC for maritime operations. These included proper radio procedures and protocol, distress, urgency, and safety communications, compliance with NTC rules and regulations on radio licenses and equipment, and routine maintenance and troubleshooting of marine radio systems. This initiative highlights NTC Region 9’s continued commitment to enhancing industry capabilities and ensuring safe, efficient communication across fishing operations.

NTC Region 9 Holds Telecom Meeting in Zamboanga City

Zamboanga City, February 4, 2026 – The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) Region 9, led by OIC-Regional Director Elre V. Galo, convened a vital meeting with major telecommunications and cable service providers, including PLDT, Globe Telecom, Converge ICT, Eastern Telecom, and Mindanao Cable Television Inc. (MCTV).

The meeting’s discussion was presented by Engr. Carlo Mario P. Jacobe I, focusing on the status of telco and utility wires in Guiwan and Barangay Tetuan, as well as updates on Councilor Rey B. Bayoging’s proposed ordinance on the proper management of Telco, Cable, and Utility Wires in Zamboanga City. The session emphasized collaboration between government and industry stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and organized telecommunications infrastructure for the city.
