SK Chairperson Candido Roa expressed his strong support for the Hapag-Asa Program, a six-month-long feeding initiative aimed at reducing malnutrition and improving the health of children in the community.

The program was conducted at the Sagrada Familia Village Chapel, situated in Barangay Camino Nuevo.

Leading the program was Rev. Fr. Elmer Sumile, director of the Community-Based Health Program of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Zamboanga Commission on Health Care, along with the leaders of the Basic Ecclesial Community of Sagrada Familia, Camino Nuevo Barangay health workers, and representatives of the Metropolitan Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Parish, among others.

Initiatives like this highlight the vital role that both church and community leaders play in addressing malnutrition at the grassroots level.

As an education graduate, I have always been guided by the principle: “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” In public service, planning is not just preparation but a foundation for effective governance, ensuring that programs are purposeful, organized, and result-oriented. This is especially important in my role as SK Chairperson, where we are tasked to design and implement programs that directly benefit the youth and the community.

I believe we should not focus on individuals or resort to creating false issues that damage someone’s reputation. 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒆 𝒍𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒉𝒊𝒑 𝒊𝒔 𝒔𝒉𝒐𝒘𝒏 𝒊𝒏 𝒔𝒐𝒍𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒑𝒓𝒐𝒃𝒍𝒆𝒎𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒅𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒓𝒆𝒔𝒖𝒍𝒕𝒔, 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒊𝒏 𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎.

Let us avoid spreading misinformation and instead focus on what truly matters, service and results.

Right now, my priority is to make the most of the opportunity to serve by delivering programs, projects, and activities that truly benefit the youth and the entire community.

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Camino Nuevo, in collaboration with the Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangays Canelar, Sta. Maria, and Sto. Niño, conducted coordination meetings with key offices, including the Zamboanga City Police Office and the Zamboanga City Traffic Enforcement Unit, in preparation for the 2026 SK Color Fun Run on April 26, 2026, with an assembly time set at 4:30 AM.

During the meeting, the Sangguniang Kabataan Chairpersons, as lead organizers, presented and discussed the proposed fun run route, while the Zamboanga City Traffic Enforcement Unit outlined the traffic management and security deployment plan to ensure the smooth and orderly conduct of the event.

A separate coordination meeting was also held with the Documentation Team from DS Films and Likha Films to ensure organized and comprehensive coverage of the entire event.

This initiative is led by the 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐠𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐊𝐚𝐛𝐚𝐭𝐚𝐚𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐂𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐨 𝐍𝐮𝐞𝐯𝐨, 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐫, 𝐒𝐭𝐚. 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐚, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐭𝐨. 𝐍𝐢ñ𝐨, under the leadership of SK Chairpersons 𝑪𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒊𝒅𝒐 𝑹𝒐𝒂, 𝑴𝒊𝒌𝒆 𝑨𝒏𝒕𝒉𝒐𝒏𝒚 𝑴𝒊𝒈𝒖𝒆𝒍, 𝑮𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒄 𝑮𝒐𝒏𝒛𝒂𝒍𝒆𝒔, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑹𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝑫𝒊𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒐, underscoring the importance of youth participation and collaboration.

In attendance were PSSG Jane Quaresma of the Zamboanga City Police Office, and Police Officers Rojas and Torrino of the Zamboanga City Traffic Enforcement Unit.

📌 𝐈𝐌𝐏𝐎𝐑𝐓𝐀𝐍𝐓 𝐑𝐄𝐌𝐈𝐍𝐃𝐄𝐑𝐒:

✅Names highlighted on the list represent the first 200 registered participants who will receive a FREE event shirt (as previously stated, priority was given to participants from the SK participating barangays).

✅All registered participants will be provided with a race bib as part of their race kit for identification purposes.

✅The first 500 runners to finish will receive a finisher’s medal (until supplies last).

✅Podium finishers for each race distance category, both male and female, will receive cash prizes.

🏃‍♂️ SK Color Fun Run: Takbo Kabataan

The Sangguniang Kabataan of Barangay Camino Nuevo, in collaboration with SK Canelar, SK Sta. Maria, and SK Sto. Niño, invites everyone to join this year’s Color Fun Run.

The SK Color Fun Run: Takbo Kabataan aims to promote physical fitness among the youth while encouraging community participation, inclusivity, and camaraderie. This activity brings together runners and community members in a shared celebration of health and recreation.

Registration: March 29 – April 5, 2026
Event Date: April 26, 2026
Assembly Time: 4:30 AM
Start/Finish: Barangay Camino Nuevo Covered Court

Who May Join:
Open to all. Priority will be given to participants aged 15–30 from participating barangays (SK Barangays Camino Nuevo, Canelar, Sta. Maria, and Sto. Niño).

Inclusions:

Participants who are not from the priority barangays may be accommodated depending on slot availability.

𝑾𝒂𝒓𝒎 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒆𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈𝒔 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝑺𝑲 𝑪𝒂𝒎𝒊𝒏𝒐 𝑵𝒖𝒆𝒗𝒐 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒍.

City Councilor and SK National President CJ Dalipe led the 1st Regular Session of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Zamboanga City Federation at the Mini Conference Room of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.

SK officers from various barangays representing the Federation’s eight clusters were present, highlighting strengthened coordination and shared commitment among young leaders across Zamboanga City.

Key priorities discussed included the rollout of cluster visits, expanded school-based programs, and citywide youth activities and competitions designed to promote leadership, participation, and skills development.
