Please be advised that Monday, October 12, 2026, is declared a SPECIAL NON-WORKING HOLIDAY in Zamboanga City in celebration of Fiesta Hermosa, in honor of the city’s patroness, Nuestra Señora La Virgen del Pilar.

In observance of the said holiday, the support units/offices of the PFDA-ZFPC on October 12, 2026, and will resume regular office operations on the next working day.

However, PMRD and HMOD shall continue their 24/7 operations to ensure the continuous delivery of essential port services and the smooth and uninterrupted operation of the ZFPC.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

For the Philippine Fisheries Development Authority (PFDA), the year 2025 marked a historic chapter, with two presidential visits in just two months to the PFDA - General Santos Fish Port Complex and the PFDA - Iloilo Fish Port Complex. 𝗚𝗔𝗗 𝗟𝗲𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 9 | 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗚𝗼𝗮𝗹 5 (𝗦𝗗𝗚 5): 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆

The PFDA-ZFPC Gender and Development Technical Working Group (GAD TWG) conducted a short lecture on Sustainable Development Goal 5 (SDG 5): Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women and Girls on September 21, 2026, at the OSS Building, ZFPC.

The session was facilitated by Ms. A***n Nirvana P. Marcelino, HRMO I, who provided participants with an overview of SDG 5 and its significance in advancing gender equality and empowering women and girls.

The discussion highlighted the importance of promoting equal opportunities, respect, inclusivity, and gender-responsive practices both in the workplace and in society. ZFPC personnel were encouraged to recognize their individual roles in fostering an environment where everyone, regardless of gender, is treated with dignity and provided equal opportunities to participate, contribute, and thrive.

The activity was strongly supported by the ZFPC Management, demonstrating the organization’s continuing commitment to advancing gender and development initiatives. Port Manager Ignacio M. Yao emphasized the importance of developing a deeper understanding of the substantial role and significance of gender equality in society and the workplace, noting that awareness and understanding are essential in building a more inclusive and respectful environment.

The lecture was attended by 50 participants, composed of 12 females and 38 males, underscoring the importance of engaging both women and men in promoting gender equality and advancing gender-responsive practices.

Through activities such as this, the ZFPC GAD TWG, with the support of Management, continues to strengthen awareness and encourage meaningful participation in gender and development initiatives. These efforts contribute to building a more inclusive, equitable, respectful, and gender-responsive workplace and society.

Layunin ng re-echo seminar na ibahagi sa mga kawani ang mahahalagang natutunan na nakuha mula sa Coaching, Mentoring, and Succession Planning Training Workshop noong Agosto 24 hanggang 28, 2026. Layunin din nitong palakasin ang kakayahan ng mga kawani sa coaching at mentoring at pagyamanin ang kultura ng patuloy na pagkatuto, knowledge-sharing, at employee development sa loob ng organisasyon.

IN PHOTOS | The PFDA–Zamboanga Fish Port Complex (ZFPC), through the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO), conducted a Re-Echo Seminar on Coaching, Mentoring, and Succession Planning on 14 September 2026 at the One-Stop Shop (OSS) Building.

The session served as a venue to cascade the knowledge, skills, and best practices gained from the Coaching, Mentoring, and Succession Planning Training Workshop held on 24–28 August 2026. The key learnings were re-echoed by Engr. Orlie R. Villareal (Division Chief II), Ms. Ma. Christine D. Lacuesta (Division Chief II) and Ms. Anesty F. Limen (Human Resource Management Officer II) who participated in the said training workshop.

The discussion focused on the essential principles and practical applications of coaching and mentoring, including effective communication, constructive feedback, employee development, and creating a supportive environment where personnel can enhance their competencies and reach their full potential. The session also highlighted the importance of succession planning in identifying and preparing potential leaders, developing the next generation of competent personnel, and ensuring the continuity of the organization.

The re-echo aimed to ensure that the knowledge gained from the training was shared with a wider group of ZFPC personnel and translated into practical workplace applications. It also sought to foster a culture of continuous learning, knowledge-sharing, employee empowerment, and leadership development, while strengthening the organization's readiness for future workforce and leadership needs.

A total of 41 personnel, composed of 12 females and 29 males, participated in the activity.

Through initiatives such as this, PFDA-ZFPC continues to invest in its people by strengthening competencies, developing future leaders, and building a workforce equipped to support the organization’s continuing pursuit of service excellence.

On National Heroes Day, PFDA-Zamboanga Fish Port Complex joins the nation in honoring the heroes who have shaped our country's history and continue to inspire us today.

We also recognize the everyday heroes whose dedication keeps the port operating each day. Our fishermen, fish handlers, traders, vendors, clients, and port personnel all play an important role in keeping the port running.

Through their hard work and commitment, they contribute to the continuous movement of fishery products and the livelihood of communities we serve.
