The BJMP-Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory houses persons deprived of liberty (PDL) awaiting trial or serving sentences below 3 years. It focuses on secure custody, humane treatment, and rehabilitation through programs such as skills training, educational programs and spiritual development, aiming to reduce recidivism and support successful reintegration of PDL to society.

The Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory (ZCJMD), BJMP-ROIX, under the leadership of Jail Superintendent Jonairy Floro Sitchon and the guidance of Jail Chief Superintendent Amado A Concepcion Jr, CESE, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau, BJMP-ROIX, actively participated in Brigada Eskwela 2026 by rendering volunteer services at Zamboanga Central School and San Roque Elementary School in preparation for the opening of classes.
On June 4, 2026, ZCJMD personnel assisted in transferring tables, chairs, and bookshelves from an old building to the third floor of a newly constructed school building at Zamboanga Central School. They also helped clear and dispose of old materials and debris to ensure that classrooms and learning spaces were safe, clean, and ready for students.
Meanwhile, on June 5, 2026, another team of personnel participated in Brigada Eskwela activities at San Roque Elementary School. The team assisted in transferring soft drink cases from the old canteen to the new canteen, relocating assorted wooden and metal materials to designated storage areas, and conducting clearing operations around the Grade 3 Building. The cleanup included the removal of debris, garbage, overgrown vegetation, and weeds to help improve the school environment.
Through these volunteer efforts, ZCJMD contributed to the Department of Educationβs annual school maintenance program, which aims to ensure that public schools are prepared for the opening of classes.
The participation of ZCJMD in Brigada Eskwela 2026 reflects the Bureauβs commitment to community engagement, volunteerism, and nation-building, while strengthening partnerships with educational institutions and supporting initiatives that promote a safe and conducive learning environment for students.

The Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory (ZCJMD), BJMP-ROIX, under the leadership of Jail Superintendent Jonairy Floro Sitchon and the guidance of Jail Chief Superintendent Amado A Concepcion Jr., CESE, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau, BJMP-ROIX, conducted a courtesy visit to the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) on June 1, 2026.
During the visit, Jail Superintendent Sitchon met with Corrections Senior Superintendent Alfredo A Devaras Jr, Superintendent of SRPPF, to discuss areas of cooperation and strengthen coordination between the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) and the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
The meeting provided an opportunity to exchange ideas on jail and prison management, security concerns, personnel development, and programs for the welfare and rehabilitation of persons deprived of liberty (PDL).
The activity highlights the continuing partnership between BJMP and BuCor in promoting effective correctional management, institutional development, and quality public service.

June 1, 2026 β The Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory (ZCJMD), BJMP-ROIX, under the leadership of Jail Superintendent Jonairy Floro Sitchon and the guidance of Jail Chief Superintendent Amado A Concepcion Jr , CESE, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau, BJMP-ROIX, hosted a Drug Awareness Information Drive conducted by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for jail personnel and persons deprived of liberty (PDL).
During the activity, PDEA representatives discussed the ill effects of illegal drugs on an individual's health, behavior, family, and community. Participants were also oriented on relevant anti-drug laws, preventive measures against substance abuse, and the importance of making responsible and informed decisions.
The activity aimed to educate participants on the dangers and adverse effects of illegal drug use, strengthen awareness of the government's anti-illegal drug campaign, and encourage active participation in maintaining a drug-free environment inside the facility.
Lastly, the activity forms part of the facility's continuing efforts to promote drug awareness, prevent substance abuse, and support its ongoing application for Drug-Free Workplace and Drug-Free Jail Facility certification.

Right after the Joint Greyhound Operations, June 1, 2026, The Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory (ZCJMD), under the leadership of Jail Superintendent Jonairy Floro Sitchon and the guidance of Jail Chief Superintendent Amado A Concepcion Jr, CESE, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau BJMP-ROIX, successfully conducted a random drug testing activity for personnel and persons deprived of liberty (PDL).
100% of ZCJMD personnel and 25% of the current PDL population undergone Drug Testing and both yielded negative results. This reflects the effectiveness of the facility's anti-illegal drug initiatives and strict implementation of security and rehabilitation programs.
The conduct of random drug testing forms part of the Bureau's efforts to prevent drug abuse, promote discipline and accountability, and ensure a safe and healthy environment for both personnel and PDL. It also supports the facility's ongoing application for Drug-Free Workplace and Drug-Free Jail Facility certification.
The successful outcome of the activity demonstrates the collective commitment of ZCJMD personnel and PDL to uphold a culture of responsibility, discipline, and compliance with anti-drug policies. It likewise reinforces the Bureau's support for the government's intensified campaign against illegal drugs while advancing the welfare, security, and rehabilitation of persons deprived of liberty.

Earlier today, June 1, 2026, The Zamboanga City Jail Male Dormitory (ZCJMD), under the leadership of Jail Superintendent Jonairy Floro Sitchon and the guidance of Jail Chief Superintendent Amado A Concepcion Jr, CESE, Regional Director of the Jail Bureau BJMP-ROIX, conducted a Joint Greyhound Operation in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA).
PDEA K9 Units and ZCJMD personnel were deployed to inspect and search detention cells, particularly at the Right Wing of the facility, to detect the presence of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, and other prohibited contraband. Prior to the operation, persons deprived of liberty (PDL) were subjected to frisking and temporarily transferred to a designated holding area to ensure the orderly conduct of the activity.
During the inspection, no illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, or prohibited contraband were recovered. The result reflects the effectiveness of the facilityβs security measures and the continued cooperation of PDL in maintaining a safe, secure, and drug-free environment inside the jail.
The activity forms part of the unitβs quarterly security and anti-illegal drug measures to prevent the entry and proliferation of prohibited substances within the facility. Likewise, the operation supports the ongoing application of ZCJMD for Drug-Free Workplace and Drug-Free Jail Facility certification, while reinforcing the Bureauβs commitment to the government's anti-illegal drug campaign, institutional security, and the rehabilitation of persons deprived of liberty.
The successful conduct of the operation further demonstrates ZCJMDβs commitment to maintaining a secure, disciplined, and drug-free custodial environment conducive to the safekeeping, welfare, and rehabilitation of PDL.
