Mssd-Barmm Zamboanga Satellite Office

February 26, 2026 — The MSSD BARMM Zamboanga Satellite Office successfully facilitated the arrival of a victim-survivor of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) from Maguindanao del Norte, for her reunification with her family in Talon-Talon, Zamboanga City.

The survivor was previously admitted at the KANLUNGAN Action Center for Women and Children in Maguindanao del Norte on November 18, 2025 after being rescued by the PNP Women and Children Protection Desk. During her stay at the center, she was observed to be experiencing high levels of emotional distress due to the trauma she endured.

She was accompanied by KANLUNGAN Center Head, Ma. Rosario Quitoras, to ensure her safe transition and proper coordination for her reintegration.

Following medical consultation and psychiatric intervention at the Southern Philippines Medical Center – Institute of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine, she was recommended for discharge and family reintegration to support her continuous emotional recovery.

In this regard, coordination has been made with the City Government of Zamboanga through the City Social Welfare and Development Office for the conduct of family assessment and debriefing to help prepare her children and ensure a supportive environment upon her return.

MSSD BARMM remains committed to safeguarding the dignity, healing, and reintegration of GBV victim-survivors through sustained psychosocial support and inter-agency collaboration.

February 25, 2026 – The Ministry of Social Services and Development – BARMM (MSSD-BARMM) facilitated the send-off of 42 Returning Filipinos from Sabah (ReFS) bound for Mapun, Tawi-Tawi.

The said ReFS were among those who arrived on January 17, 2026, in Zamboanga City via M/V Antonia 1. Due to the lack of regular transportation bound for Mapun, Tawi-Tawi, they stayed for more than a month at the Processing Center for Displaced Persons (PCDP) while awaiting an available vessel to transport them back to their respective homes.

Today, they boarded M/L Christine and are set to sail to Mapun, Tawi-Tawi, where they will be officially received and assisted by the MSSD-BARMM Mapun Unit Office for further support and reintegration services.

Prior to departure, the ReFS were provided with food assistance, cash allowance, and other necessary support to ensure their safe and smooth travel back to their families.
