DSWD Chief, Isinulong ang Family-Based Care sa ASEAN High-Level Forum ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ

Hindi nagtatapos sa institutional care ang responsibilidad sa mga batang nangangailangan ng proteksyon at pangangalaga. Ito ang binigyang-diin ni DSWD Secretary REX Gatchalian sa kanyang keynote message sa ASEAN High-Level Forum on Child Care Reform nitong Huwebes (Setyembre 24) sa Philippine International Convention Center (PICC) sa Pasay City.

Binigyang-diin ng Kalihim na mas napauunlad ang potensyal ng mga bata kapag sila ay lumalaki sa isang mapagkalingang pamilya at suportadong kapaligiran. Isinagawa ang dalawang araw na forum sa pangunguna ng DSWD, katuwang ang National Authority for Child Care (NACC) at United Nations Childrenโ€™s Fund (UNICEF), na dinaluhan ng mga kinatawan mula sa mga ASEAN member states para palakasin ang family care at child protection systems sa buong rehiyon.

Sa pamamagitan ng pagpapalitan ng mga karanasan, polisiya at magagandang gawi sa child care reform, layunin ng forum na maisulong ang mga sistemang inuuna ang kapakanan ng kabataan at nagbibigay sa kanila ng pagkakataong lumaki sa isang ligtas, mapag-aruga at permanenteng pamilya. (DIMA)

On September 9, 2026, the Reception and Study Center for Children (RSCC) IX conducted an Entrustment Activity for two children who were matched under Local Matching. This was followed by another successful entrustment activity on September 15, 2026, for a 2-year-old child matched under Inter-Regional Matching.
These moments mark more than just the completion of a processโ€”they represent new beginnings, renewed hope, and the opportunity for children to grow in a safe, loving, and nurturing family environment. ๐Ÿ’™๐Ÿฉท

Behind every successful entrustment is a collective effort anchored in one shared commitment: to uphold the best interests of every child and ensure their right to grow in an environment where they are loved, protected, valued, and given the opportunity to thrive.

The DSWD- RSCC IX remains committed to providing temporary protective care to children who have experienced abandonment, neglect, abuse, surrender, or other circumstances requiring alternative care. Since birth, Paul has been under the care of his paternal aunt, Marilou, who took full responsibility for raising him. To Paul, she has always been Mom.

Their journey reached another milestone when a Placement Authority was issued in February 2026. Months later, Paul and Marilou visited the National Authority for Child Care (NACC) for their pre-departure visit before leaving together for the United States.
