A successful Book Drive was conducted at BCP Margalla last week with involvement by all 3 branches of Beaconhouse Margalla Islamabad. With over 300 books donated in total, it was refreshing to witness the number of students students willing to part ways with their collections and books for a greater cause.

Now, instead of these books resting untouched on home shelves for long periods of time, young enthusiastic readers will make good use of them for growth and learning. For all others who could not donate books but still want to, we will announce one final day towards the end of the year when you can donate your books.

We are grateful to all the students who organised and contributed in the Book Drive. Further progress and readers utilising these books will continue to be shared on this page IA!

As we share a few glimpses of last Sunday, we have an interesting anecdote to share!

We had a couple 14 year old girls over at the library. They were eager to get their hands on English story books that could serve as worthwhile timepass while helping them improve their language skills. Naturally, we guided them towards the English section and advised them to choose books that seemed interesting to them.

Pass 2 minutes and they came back, with 'Fire and Fury' and 'Imran Khan' held in their hands. Samaak could scarcely control his laughter as he saw the 2 fresh readers holding such seasoned books. Upon questioning, they revealed these books seemed interesting to them. Sensibly, they were guided that these books could turn out to be boring as they would extensively cover many areas they might lack interest in. Eventually, the girls issued interesting story books 'Treasure Island' and 'Robinhood'. Inshallah, they will soon study biographies of well-recognized personalities as well, but for now, one step at a time.

For context, 'fire and fury' and 'imran khan' are advanced books, which cover Trump's first tenure in the White House and Imran Khan's life respectively.

This Sunday, we had two young stars with us. One of them is an active volunteer of the library, Muhammad bin Mumtaz. Since his recent integration into the library volunteer network, Muhammad has become a key part of the library and meticulously manages his time schedule to ensure regular presence on Sundays.

The other is Abyan Rehman. Along with the return of issued library books, he graciously contributed 5 of his own books to the library for its growth. The novels are most suitable for young readers and include White Dolphin, Hidden Figures, Treasure Island, The Valley of Fear, and 'Target Pathankot Tha'. We look forward to seeing you in the library, perhaps with one of these books!

4. Establishment of volunteer network and annual gatherings.
5. Outreach in educational institutions.

VTS & PLA Sign MoU to Empower Students Digitally!

We’re thrilled to announce a significant partnership between Visionary Tech Society (VTS) and Public Library Attock (PLA)! This collaboration aims to promote digital literacy and host impactful mega-events for students across the region.

The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was officially signed by Mr. Muhammad Hassaan (Founder & CEO, VTS) and Mr. Samaak Iqbal Malik (Executive Director, PLA). The ceremony was honored by the presence of Mr. Ali Hassan (Director - IT & Media, VTS), Mr. Muhammad Ayan (Director - PR & Outreach, VTS), and Mr. Rahim Tariq (President, Innoventure Society – a PLA initiative).

The internship continues to bloom in full swing! This week, we wrapped up our third session and as many tasks, steadily approaching the end of the internship.⚡️

The experience with these interns has been nothing short of surreal. Their creativity and enthusiasm has often caught us by surprise.

We planned to enhance their creativity and engagement skills but very often, we felt more like we need to limit it than enhance it. Such was the response exhibited by these talented interns. 👀

However, this journey has hardly been easy. Despite the careful selection of very limited interns, we initially faced the grave problem of non-serious behaviour by several interns. 🤦‍♂️

Sticking to our structured approach of zero tolerance for non-serious behaviour, we had no choice but to let go of these interns. Since, we have had an amazing and responsive atmosphere. 👏

From case studies to video submissions and reels, we have truly experienced it all together with these bright stars! 🌟

We wish the very best for all the applicants who could not continue with our internship. As for our interns, we have amazing follow ups in store! 💣

This Wednesday, the Library Council convened to discuss a more structured approach to library management and objectives. Here's the agenda they passed!

1. The Library Council meeting will be held bimonthly.
2. All office-bearers will report their progress over the last 2 months.
3. A separate Digital Wing will be formed, led by the Media Team, and accountable only to the Managing Director.
4. Meeting with Mehria's officials will be held to initiate library expansion into one of their residence facilities.
5. A steady outreach process will be initiated to cover all public schools and colleges in Attock over the next 12 months.
6. An initiation of structure inspired by Board of Governors will be discussed with donors.
7. Annual dinner, sponsored by our patrons, will be held in December.
8. A comprehensive performance for year 2025-2026 and planning for year 2026-2027 will be shared to all stakeholders in the annual dinner.

The children delighted and flocked the library when they saw a rare opportunity to get books on Wednesday as well. Gladly, we issued them books as cheerful chatter continued, concluding it all with a chicken karahi in the evening!
