In the 53rd meeting of the current fiscal year 2024-25, the Provincial Development Working Party (PDWP), under the chairmanship of the Chairman P&DB Barrister Nabeel Ahmad Awan, approved five development schemes worth Rs 7 Billion.
1. Improvement and Extension of the Water Supply System in Bahawalnagar City at Rs 675.480 million.
2. Improvement and Extension of the Sewerage System in Bahawalnagar City at Rs 1,602.83 million.
3. Comprehensive Sewerage System in Kot Addu City at a cost of Rs 1,199.320 million.

On 02.12.2024, Dr. Asif Tufail, Secretary of the Planning & Development Department South, undertook an official visit to Bahawalpur, where he engaged in multiple key activities. The visit commenced at Faletti's Hotel Bahawalpur, where Dr. Asif delivered the opening remarks at a specialized short training session on "PC-I Preparation and Appraisal" at 9:30 a.m. This session aimed to enhance the technical capabilities of the participants in project planning and appraisal.
Subsequently, Dr. Asif toured the P&D South Complex, where he was briefed by Malik Ghulam Fareed, Chief P&D South, on the development portfolio with a particular emphasis on the Chief Minister's initiatives in South Punjab. The meeting highlighted the robust monitoring mechanisms employed by the P&D South team with collaboration of Directorate General Monitoring & Evaluation (DG M&E). Detailed discussions held regarding the Development, Non-development budget, human resources, assets and issues/ challenges of P&D South.
Managing Director of the Cholistan Development Authority (CDA), also briefed Dr. Asif Tufail Sb, about various CDA projects and challenges. Later, the Secretary sb, visited CDA complex, P&D/CDA Colony and the office of the Southern Punjab Poverty Alleviation Project (SPPAP), underlining his commitment to addressing regional development and poverty alleviation goals.

Today on October 19, 2024 (Saturday), Dr Kiran Khurshid, Director General Monitoring & Evaluation, held a meeting with all staff of the Planning and Development Department at the South Secretariat in Bahawalpur. All the officers and official staff of Planning & Development Department South present today on duty on Saturday.
