Gilgit-Baltistan region is strategically the most important region falls in the Karakorum, Himalaya and Hindu Raj mountain ranges and it is the trade center of the region for centuries. Gilgit is the capital town administrative center of the province of Gilgit-Baltistan. The area is feed by waters of Hunza, Ghizer and Indus rivers.
Gilgit-Baltistan has also been a very important region due to the historical Silk Route, Connection with central Asia, Afghanistan, India, and facilitating religions to spread across trans-boundaries. Shina is the local language spoken in Gilgit while Balti is spoken in Baltistan region. There are more than seven indigenous languages spoken in Gilgit-Baltistan. English and Urdu is widely spoken in the region.
