● Mission: Build A Rocket!

The Black Hole presents the Lift Off Rocketry Challenge, a water bottle rocket competition organized as part of World Space Week 2026. The deadline to register for this event is 8th October.

This event will take place on Saturday, 10 October, at The Black Hole.

Participating teams will design, simulate, build, and launch a water bottle rocket. Entries will be judged on the altitude achieved during launch. There will also be a stargazing session afterwards.

● ELIGIBILITY:

- Open to participants aged 14 to 18

● TEAM REQUIREMENTS:

- Each team may consist of a maximum of 3 members. All members must meet the eligibility criteria stated above.

● REGISTRATION FEE:

- PKR 2,000 per team

● PRIZE:

- 1st Place: PKR 15,000
- 2nd Place: PKR 5,000

● Does Pakistan Need Smaller Provinces?

» Pakistan is a federation of more than 240 million people, currently organised into four provinces with vastly different geographies, populations, resources and development challenges. As these provinces grow and administrative demands become increasingly complex, questions about the country’s federal and provincial structure continue to surface.

Does the existing provincial structure allow governments to serve their populations effectively? Could smaller provinces bring government closer to citizens, improve administrative efficiency, strengthen representation and make development more responsive to local needs? Or could creating more provinces introduce new challenges without necessarily solving existing ones?

Drawing on experience and perspective of Raza Hasan from the United States (joining on Zoom), this session will examine the idea of smaller provinces in Pakistan and the arguments surrounding administrative decentralisation, governance, representation, resource distribution and regional development.

● About the Guest Speaker:

» Raza Hasan is a visionary leader, systems thinker, and changemaker with over 45 years of experience in the United States. A seasoned CEO, political activist, and mentor, he brings together data-driven insights with a profound understanding of global governance and structural reform.

He is the President and Founder of ProsperityWeb.org, an initiative dedicated to advancing global prosperity through systemic reform. He has mentored global tech startups, served as an Adjunct Professor of Strategic Management, and is the author of Prosperity for All Nations.

Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest province by area and one of its most resource-rich regions, yet it continues to face significant challenges in human development, education, healthcare, infrastructure, employment and access to economic opportunities.

What does development mean in the context of Balochistan? What are the major gaps holding back human and economic development? How can the province’s natural and human resources contribute to sustainable growth and greater opportunities for its people? And what role can education, infrastructure, investment, technology and local participation play in shaping its future?

● About the Speaker:

» Dr. Faiz M. Kakar is a prominent environmentalist and development expert with a doctorate in Development Studies and Environment from Queensland University, Australia, and specialized training in Environmental Leadership from UC Berkeley. With around 15 years of experience in the UN system (UNDP, FAO, UNHCR), he has served as consultant, national manager, and team leader for international programme evaluations.

He has held leadership roles with IUCN across Gilgit-Baltistan, KP, Balochistan and Islamabad, focusing on environmental conservation, natural resource management, climate change, and community-based development, including contributions to the Living Indus initiative.

Dr. Kakar has served as Caretaker Provincial Minister and was nominated as Member of the Election Commission of Pakistan from Balochistan in 2019. He is also a visiting faculty member and author of numerous research papers and policy documents on environment and development.
