National Disaster Management Authority Pakistan

The National Institute of Disaster Management (NIDM), under the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), organized a two-day Training on Disaster Risk Reduction Knowledge Service and Digital China-Pakistan Economic Corridor on 20–21 May 2026 at the NDMA Centre of Excellence, Islamabad, in collaboration with the China-Pakistan Joint Research Center on Earth Sciences (CPJRC) and leading Chinese research institutions.

The training brought together 30 participants, including NDMA officers, course participants, and national and international attendees joining online. Experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences delivered technical sessions on marine geohazards, disaster risk reduction knowledge services, geospatial processing, and digital technologies for disaster management.

The training enhanced participants’ understanding of disaster risk assessment, emergency response systems, and data-driven disaster management while strengthening China-Pakistan cooperation in disaster risk reduction.

🌍 NDMA, in collaboration with UNDRR, UN Women, and Duryog Nivaran, organized a Workshop and Training of Trainers on Gender and Social Inclusion in Disaster Risk Reduction at NDMA Headquarters, Islamabad.

The workshop brought together stakeholders from government institutions, disaster management authorities, UN agencies, humanitarian organizations, academia, civil society, and technical experts to strengthen gender-responsive and disability-inclusive DRR systems in Pakistan.

Member DRR NDMA, Mr. Muhammad Idrees Mehsud, emphasized the growing risks posed by climate-induced disasters including floods, droughts, heatwaves, GLOFs, hailstorms, and public health emergencies, stressing the importance of inclusive preparedness and resilience for vulnerable communities.

A high-level panel discussion explored practical approaches for operationalizing the Sendai Gender Action Plan and enhancing accountability in inclusive disaster risk reduction.

The Training of Trainers (ToT) program will continue from 20–21 May 2026 to help develop a national pool of trainers on gender-responsive and disability-inclusive DRR, with the initiative becoming part of NDMA’s Center of Excellence curriculum.

NDMA remains committed to strengthening inclusive disaster preparedness, anticipatory action, and resilience-building through partnerships and collaborative action.

🇵🇰🤝🇧🇩 A high-level Bangladesh Civil Service Delegation led by Additional Secretary Ms. Salmah Mahtab visited NDMA Headquarters, Islamabad, to observe Pakistan’s advanced disaster management architecture, proactive disaster risk reduction capabilities, and cutting-edge early warning systems.

Chairman NDMA Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik HI(M) highlighted the importance of regional cooperation, shared learning, and collaborative approaches in addressing climate-induced hazards and transboundary disaster risks.

The delegation received detailed briefings on NEOC operations, trigger-based anticipatory action systems, resource mobilization mechanisms, Pak Disaster Lens 2026, and Global Disaster Lens 2026, showcasing Pakistan’s progress in data-driven early warning dissemination, predictive analytics, and coordinated emergency response.

Constructive discussions focused on strengthening Pakistan-Bangladesh cooperation in early warning systems, joint search & rescue operations, capacity building, regional risk pooling, and global disaster resource networks.

The visit reaffirmed the shared commitment of both countries towards enhancing resilience, preparedness, and proactive disaster risk management across the region.

🇵🇰🤝🇨🇳 2nd Pakistan-China Symposium on Early Warning for Hydrological and Geological Disasters successfully concluded at NDMA Headquarters, Islamabad.

Over two days, experts, scientists, policymakers, and disaster management practitioners from Pakistan and China engaged in high-level discussions and technical sessions focused on climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, hydrological & geological hazard monitoring, glacial risks, and advanced early warning systems.

Chairman NDMA Lt Gen Inam Haider Malik HI(M) emphasized the importance of scientific innovation, technology integration, and regional cooperation to strengthen resilience against climate-induced disasters. Participants also visited the National Emergencies Operation Center (NEOC) and NDMA’s Centre of Excellence (COE), showcasing Pakistan’s advancements in predictive analytics, anticipatory action, and real-time disaster monitoring.

The symposium reaffirmed the shared commitment of Pakistan and China towards enhanced cooperation in disaster management, climate adaptation, scientific research, and institutional capacity building.
