The Shariʻah Academy, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red
Cross (ICRC), successfully organized a two-day Certificate Course on Islam and
International Humanitarian Law for lawyers and university students on 5–6 May 2026 at
the Shariʻah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad.
The course aimed at enhancing understanding of the principles of International
Humanitarian Law (IHL) in the light of Islamic teachings and contemporary legal
discourse. The programme brought together lawyers, university students, and academics.
The inaugural session commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an, followed by
opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Director General, Shariʻah Academy.
Dr. Ziaullah Rahmani introduced the role and humanitarian mission of the International
Committee of the Red Cross.
During the two-day course, various sessions were conducted on important themes related
to International Humanitarian Law and Islamic law of armed conflict. Dr. Muhammad
Rafeeq Shinwari delivered lectures on the introduction to International Humanitarian
Law and conducted case study discussions. Hafiz Ahmad Waqas spoke on the Islamic
law of armed conflict and also participated in the case study sessions. Usman Khan
delivered a lecture on the protection of persons and objects during armed conflict from
the perspective of IHL, while Taj Muhammad discussed the protection of cultural
property during armed conflict.
The participants actively engaged in discussions, question-and-answer sessions, and case
studies, and appreciated the academic and practical significance of the course.
In the concluding session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram thanked the participants and
resource persons for their active participation and valuable contributions. He stated that
such programmes are organized to bridge the gap between Islamic law and contemporary
legal discourse and reaffirmed that the Academy would continue to organize similar
academic programmes in the future. At the end of the programme, certificates were
distributed among the participants.

Shariah Academy Organizes Hajj Training Workshop
The Shariah Academy, in collaboration with Maʿas‑Salamah, organized a Noble Hajj Training Workshop on Sunday, 19 April, at the Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjad (Old Campus), International Islamic University, Islamabad.
The workshop aimed to provide practical and scholarly guidance to intending pilgrims regarding the virtues, importance, and rituals of Hajj. Renowned scholars and muftis delivered detailed lectures explaining the obligations, essential rites, and practical procedures of performing Hajj. To enhance understanding, the instructors also demonstrated the practical aspects of Hajj through models and visual presentations.
Approximately 100-150 participants (Male & Female) attended the workshop and showed great enthusiasm throughout the sessions. During the question-and-answer session, participants actively engaged with the speakers, reflecting their keen interest and attentive participation. Many attendees also expressed appreciation for the initiative and requested that similar workshops be organized in the future.
The event commenced with the recitation of the Holy Qur’an followed by the presentation of Naʿat (poetry in praise of the Prophet ﷺ). The workshop concluded with closing remarks and a collective supplication (dua).
This training workshop served as a valuable opportunity for participants to gain both theoretical knowledge and practical understanding of the rites of Hajj in a structured and accessible manner.

Conclusion of Daurah Āyāt al-Aḥkām at Shariah Academy
The Shariah Academy successfully concluded its month-long Daurah Āyāt al-Aḥkām, which commenced with the beginning of the holy month of Ramzan 2026 and came to an end on Wednesday, 28th Ramzan (18 March 2026), at the Academy’s classroom.
Throughout the course, a number of distinguished scholars delivered lectures on a wide range of important jurisprudential topics derived from the Qur’ān. These included the rulings related to Ramzan, inheritance, prayer (ṣalāh), pilgrimage (ḥajj), almsgiving (zakāt), loans (qarḍ), and marriage contracts, among others. The sessions were marked by scholarly depth and practical relevance, benefiting students and participants alike.
The program witnessed keen interest and active participation from attendees throughout the month. Participants expressed their appreciation for the initiative and expressed their desire for the continuation of such beneficial academic activities in the future.
In the closing ceremony, Professor Dr. Akram addressed the audience. He highlighted the importance of understanding Āyāt al-Aḥkām in addressing contemporary issues and appreciated the dedication of both the scholars and participants.
The ceremony concluded with collective duʿāʾ, praying for the acceptance of the efforts and for the continued success of similar academic endeavors.
