Introduction
The Gilgit-Baltistan Council (GBC) has been established under Article 33 of the Gilgit- GBC started functioning on 6th May 2010.

The Gilgit-Baltistan Council (GBC) has been established under Article 33 of the Gilgit-Baltistan (Empowerment and Self Governance) Order, 2009. Its inaugural session was held in the month of October, 2011 under the Chairmanship of Prime Minister of Pakistan. The Secretariat is located in Islamabad. Gilgit-Baltistan comprises of 72,496 Sq KMs, administratively divided in 07 District, with an approx total population of 1.6 million.
