The Honourable Commissioner for Afghan Refugees (CAR), Sindh, Mr. Quaim Din, was invited as the Chief Guest at the handover ceremony held under the Quick Impact Projects (QIP) initiative by UNIOM
The projects inaugurated included:
• Rehabilitation of the sanitation network, repair of the graveyard boundary wall, and street pavement work in Qayyumabad
• Rehabilitation of the sanitation network in Faqeerabad streets
• Installation of solar street lights in Qayyumabad and Faqeerabad streets
The ceremony took place at Qayyumabad and Faqeerabad, Sohrab Goth Town, District East, Karachi. These initiatives aim to improve basic infrastructure, sanitation facilities, and community well-being.

Elders from vulnerable Community visited the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR), Sindh, where discussions were held on various issues, concerns, and community-related matters.
The elders shared their queries and challenges, while CAR Sindh assured its continued commitment and support toward addressing and resolving their issues through coordination and facilitation.
CAR Sindh held a productive meeting with the UN-IOM CRLR Head, Ms. Leila Salehiravesh, along with her team, to discuss ongoing and future initiatives aimed at supporting vulnerable and host communities. Key areas of discussion included the possibility of implementing MPCA/ECA interventions in Sindh, progress updates on ongoing Quick Impact Projects (QIPs), and exploring additional collaborative activities within the mandate of CRLR.
Furthermore, the Honourable Commissioner for Afghan Refugees, Sindh, Mr. Quaim Din, attended the handover ceremony of the “Rehabilitation of the Urban Health Unit, Aligarh Colony, Orangi Town, District West, Karachi,” implemented under the Quick Impact Projects (QIP) initiative.
CAR Sindh appreciates the continued support and partnership of IOM Pakistan and all stakeholders working towards community development and improved public service delivery through impactful humanitarian initiatives.
International Medical Corps (IMC), with the support of IOM, organized a training on GBV Case Management and Remote Case Management to strengthen participants’ knowledge and practical understanding of this important area.
The Commissioner for Afghan Refugees (CAR-Sindh) attended the event as Chief Guest and distributed certificates among the participants.
CAR Sindh appreciated the efforts of IMC and IOM in enhancing professional capacity.
International Medical Corps (IMC) organized a quarterly coordination meeting in Karachi with the support of IOM. The meeting was attended by various partner NGOs and government stakeholders.
The meeting was chaired by the Commissioner for Afghan Refugees Sindh (CAR-Sindh), focusing on support for vulnerable groups and host communities.
Key areas discussed included health, education, skills development, legal protection, and Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
Participants emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts and strengthened collaboration to effectively address the needs of vulnerable populations.
The Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR) Sindh participated as Chief Guest in an outreach initiative organized by SHARP under the Talent Beyond Boundaries (TBB) program in Karachi.
The session engaged 40 female participants from vulnerable groups, focusing on promoting safe and legal pathways to international employment. Participants were guided on Talent Catalog registration, CV development, autonomous pathways, and interview preparation.
CAR Sindh appreciated the efforts of SHARP and its team for creating a supportive platform that empowers individuals with knowledge, skills, and opportunities for self-reliance. The initiative also provided a safe space for participants to share challenges and build confidence for future steps.
CAR Sindh reaffirmed its commitment to supporting such collaborative efforts aimed at improving livelihood opportunities for vulnerable groups and strengthening host communities.
CAR Sindh & Caritas Pakistan Partnership 🤝
CAR Sindh and Caritas Pakistan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance future collaboration in support of vulnerable groups and host communities.
CAR Sindh acknowledged the impactful welfare work carried out by Caritas Pakistan, including:
✔️ Ration distribution drives
✔️ Emergency response during disasters (provision of plastic sheets & clean drinking water)
✔️ Installation of RO plants for safe drinking water
✔️ Distribution of school uniforms
✔️ Establishment of skill development centers (stitching & embroidery)
✔️ Support to healthcare through provision of medicines
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving livelihoods and strengthening community resilience.
CAR Sindh attended and distributed certificates at a two-day training on the Girls Shine Model, organized by IMC for field workers to strengthen support for vulnerable groups and host communities. The training was supported by IOM.
Mr. Richard Grindell, Senior Protection Officer at UNHCR, visited the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR) Sindh office today. A productive meeting was held focusing on support for vulnerable groups and strengthening assistance for host communities.
During the meeting, matters related to protection interventions, community support programs, and future collaboration were discussed. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to continuing joint efforts for the welfare and protection of vulnerable groups and host communities in Sindh.
The UN-IOM officials visited the Commissionerate for Afghan Refugees (CAR) Sindh office. During the meeting, key discussion points included ongoing projects under QIPs (Quick Impact Projects) and other activities of IOM in Karachi for vulnerable groups and host communities.
Both sides also discussed areas of mutual cooperation and reaffirmed their commitment to continuing collaborative efforts for the welfare of vulnerable populations and host communities.
