I read a book called “Outliers” and there was a section that talked about the constant Korean airline crashes in the 90s.

Their planes were not crashing because the pilots were unqualified, or because the planes were not properly maintained.

These planes were crashing because in Korean culture, you cannot disrespect or talk down on your seniors.

So whenever the captain was tired and he was making mistakes, the co-pilot would rather watch the plane crash than correct his superior.

Similarity to our culture is just a coincidence!
