A formal meeting was conducted in District Sialkot, Gujranwala Division, with newly transferred Senior Civil Judge, Criminal Division, Mr. Amad ud Din, with the objective of enhancing the number of probation cases in the district and strengthening judicial coordination for the promotion of rehabilitation and restorative justice.

During the meeting, emphasis was laid on increasing the number of offenders placed on probation in District Sialkot, in line with the rehabilitative mandate of Punjab Probation & Parole Service. The worthy Judge was apprised of the significant role that judicial officers play in maximizing the utilization of probation as an effective and humane alternative to conventional sentencing.

It was highlighted during the discussion that the worthy Judge had previously made a remarkable contribution to offender rehabilitation at his earlier posting in District Khanewal, where he placed the maximum number of eligible offenders on probation along with community service orders. Acknowledging his commendable track record, the worthy Judge expressed his full willingness to replicate and build upon the same approach in District Sialkot, assuring his commitment to considering deserving cases for probation placement in accordance with the law.

A formal meeting was held with SSP Investigation Rawalpindi, Mr. Raja Nasir, under the supervision of the Deputy Director, Punjab Probation & Parole Service, Rawalpindi Division, accompanied by Parole Officers Mr. Muhammad Sardar Alam and Ms. Misbah Parveen.

The meeting was convened to address the matter of pending Enquiry Letters in parole cases, with particular focus on delays occurring at the level of the Police Department. The issue was discussed in detail, with emphasis on the need for timely processing of verification requests to ensure that deserving parole cases are not unnecessarily delayed and that eligible prisoners are given prompt access to the rehabilitative benefits of parole.

SSP Investigation Mr. Raja Nasir responded positively and assured full cooperation from the Police Department in this regard. He directed the concerned officers to expedite the verification process to facilitate timely disposal of parole cases, reflecting a commendable commitment to interdepartmental coordination and the efficient administration of justice.

A group counselling and awareness session on the Importance of Countering Violent Extremism and its implications was conducted at Tehsil Courts Depalpur, District Okara, Sahiwal Division, under the supervision of Probation Officer Malik Asad Ali. A total of 12 probationers actively participated in the session.

During the session, probationers were sensitized about the deeply negative effects of violent extremist behavior on individuals, families, and society as a whole. The discussion aimed to build a clear and comprehensive understanding among participants of how extremism destroys lives, damages communities, and undermines the social fabric of an entire nation.

Special emphasis was placed on promoting peaceful attitudes, tolerance, and social responsibility as essential values for leading a constructive and law-abiding life. Probationers were encouraged to serve as ambassadors of peace within their families and communities and to actively reject any narrative or influence that promotes violence or hatred.

The session was highly interactive, with probationers participating actively in the discussion and pledging to adopt positive and law-abiding behavior in their daily lives, reflecting a genuine commitment to personal reform and responsible citizenship.

A formal meeting was conducted at Session Courts Lahore, District and Division Lahore, by Probation Officer Ms. Sahar Batool, with Honorable Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Akhtar and District Prosecutor Mr. Abid Waqar Bhatti, to address the rising volume of probation cases and deliberate on the implications of recent legal amendments to the probation framework.

During the meeting, Honorable Additional Sessions Judge Muhammad Akhtar provided a significant and critical legal clarification, stating that despite the recent statutory amendment, female offenders and juveniles remain fully eligible to be placed on probation under the provisions of case type 9b. He explicitly noted that the amendment restricts this provision only for male offenders. This important judicial interpretation serves to preserve the rehabilitative scope of probation for vulnerable populations and ensures that the spirit of the law continues to protect those most in need of reformative intervention.

In a complementary and encouraging development, District Prosecutor Mr. Abid Waqar Bhatti assured his full support and committed to arranging a dedicated meeting with prosecutors responsible for processing challans under Section 462. The objective of this proposed meeting is to align prosecutorial practice with the amended legal framework and ensure procedural consistency in the handling of pending probation cases.

Both officials responded favorably to the concerns raised by the Probation Officer, reflecting a shared commitment to upholding the rehabilitative objectives of the probation system within the evolving legal landscape.

An individual counselling and awareness session on the Causes and Drivers of Radicalization was conducted at Tehsil Kot Radha Kishan, under the supervision of Probation Officer Ali Asghar. A total of 06 probationers participated in the session.

The session aimed to enhance awareness among probationers regarding the factors that contribute to radicalization and to educate them about its harmful consequences for individuals, families, communities, and society as a whole. Probationers were informed that radicalization is often driven by a combination of social, psychological, economic, and environmental factors, including negative peer influence, unemployment, social isolation, frustration, family conflicts, lack of proper guidance, exposure to extremist narratives, and the misuse of social media platforms for spreading misinformation and hate-based content.

Special emphasis was placed on the role of social media and online platforms in disseminating misleading information and propaganda that promotes intolerance and violence. Probationers were advised to exercise caution while using digital media, verify information from reliable sources, and develop critical thinking skills to resist manipulation and misinformation in all its forms.

The counselling further highlighted the significance of emotional stability, patience, self-control, and responsible decision-making. Guidance was provided on managing anger, frustration, and personal grievances through peaceful and constructive means. Probationers were encouraged to maintain positive family relationships, seek support from responsible individuals during difficult times, and engage in productive activities that contribute to personal growth and social well-being.

The session concluded with a strong reinforcement of the principles of tolerance, respect for diversity, peaceful coexistence, responsible citizenship, and adherence to the rule of law, encouraging all participants to remain vigilant against negative influences and continue pursuing lawful and constructive paths in life.

A community service plantation activity was conducted at ORC Sahiwal, District Sahiwal, Sahiwal Division, under the supervision of Parole Officer Asia Noor. A total of 15 probationers actively participated in the plantation drive.

Probationers enthusiastically planted saplings in and around the ORC premises, contributing to a greener and healthier environment. During the activity, participants were educated about the vital importance of trees in maintaining a clean environment, reducing pollution, and combating the growing challenges of climate change. They were encouraged to play a positive and proactive role in society by contributing to environmental conservation efforts beyond the scope of their community service obligations.

The participants demonstrated great enthusiasm and a commendable spirit of teamwork throughout the activity, reflecting a genuine sense of ownership and responsibility toward their community and environment. The plantation drive was completed successfully and served as a meaningful and constructive step toward developing responsible citizenship and a lasting sense of community service among probationers.

Today, a meeting was held between the Director General, Punjab Probation and Parole Service, and representatives of SUNO TV. During the engagement, the Director General provided a comprehensive overview of the department’s mandate, key initiatives, rehabilitation programmes, and ongoing reforms aimed at strengthening community-based corrections and reintegration.

The media delegation was also given a detailed briefing on the Punjab Probation and Parole Delivery Unit (PPDU) and its role in enhancing service delivery, monitoring mechanisms, and institutional effectiveness. Furthermore, Media Personnel were taken on a guided tour of the Directorate General, where they were apprised of various sections, including Committee Room, Fazal ur Rehman Reading Room and the department’s administrative and functional framework.

The interaction served as a valuable opportunity to foster constructive engagement with the media and to enhance public awareness regarding the role and contributions of the Punjab Probation and Parole Service within the criminal justice system.

An awareness session on Countering Violent Extremism was conducted in District Sargodha, Sargodha Division, under the supervision of Probation Officers Iqra Zawar and Zohra Sajjad. A total of 60 probationers participated in the session.

The session, initially scheduled for May 23, 2026, was postponed due to a public holiday and was successfully conducted on May 25, 2026, reflecting the department's commitment to ensuring continuity and consistency in its awareness and rehabilitation programmes regardless of scheduling challenges.

The purpose of the session was to raise awareness among probationers about the dangers and consequences of violent extremism and its devastating impact on individuals, families, and society at large. Participants were guided toward promoting peaceful behavior, tolerance, and positive social values in their daily lives and within their communities.

The session was delivered in an informative and engaging manner, and was well received by all participants despite the rescheduling, underscoring the enthusiasm and commitment of probationers toward their own rehabilitation and personal development.
