Speaking on day 2 at DawnMedia Group’s Pakistan Population Summit 2025, Dr Yasmeen Sabih Qazi, who heads family planning consulting firm QZ Catalyst, brought up that 3.8 million women in Pakistan undergo abortion every year, calling it a “health issue”. She said, “Women need quality healthcare.”

“We need inclusion in a true sense…not for the data but for the very right that they deserve,” Qazi said.

“We should make a position that a woman’s autonomy and a woman’s right to make a decision should be central to all the policies we are leading,” she added.

The DG Population Welfare Department/CEO PPIF, Capt. (R) Aurangzaib Haider Khan visited the Scale-Up of the FP E-Voucher Project in DG Khan Division, implemented by PRSP in collaboration with PPIF under the Punjab Family Planning Program funded by the World Bank. Mr. Huma Mehdi Leghari District Population Welfare Officer (DPWO) and Muhammad Fayyaz Dhool (Deputy DPWO) also joined the meeting at PRSP office.

The visit aimed to review the progress of FP E-Voucher interventions in the district. The CEO PPIF was briefed on project achievements, ongoing challenges and outcomes. A detailed discussion was held to address these challenges and outline the way forward for improved implementation.

PPIF participated in an event organized by UN Women at the Punjab Safe City Authority to commemorate the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence. The event highlighted the Government of Punjab’s efforts to digitize the response to violence through the Virtual Police Station, the Women Safety App, and emergency pressure buttons installed across cities. Discussions also emphasized the importance of multisectoral collaboration and a collective commitment to zero tolerance against violence toward women.
