The Disaster Risk Management Society, Government College University Lahore, successfully conducted a Book Review session on The Uninhabitable Earth: Life After Warming by David Wallace-Wells. The session was led by the Speaker, Mr. Jahanzaib Khan, whose presentation fostered an engaging and interactive discussion, encouraging participants to critically reflect on climate change risks and their implications for the future of human survival.
Following the review, a documentary aligned with the theme was screened, further enriching understanding through visual insight and collective dialogue. The session concluded with valuable reflections and perspectives shared by Dr. Shakeel Mahmood, adding depth to the discussion and inspiring thoughtful academic engagement among attendees.

The Disaster Risk Management Society (DRMS), Government College University Lahore, is pleased to share that Dr. Shakeel Mahmood, Advisor of DRMS, delivered an insightful seminar on “Geo-Spatial Data Analysis for Disaster Management” at Government Queen Mary Graduate College on 23 January 2026 🌍
The session highlighted the growing role of Geography, GIS, and Data Science in addressing contemporary disaster challenges and was attended by faculty members and students from the Geography and Computer Science departments. His contribution reflects the importance of academic collaboration and knowledge exchange in strengthening disaster resilience.
DRMS appreciates his continued guidance and academic leadership in promoting learning and professional engagement.

Youth as Agents of Behavioural Change (YABC) Training – Day 2
The Disaster Risk Management Society, Government College University, Lahore, in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society, successfully conducted Day 2 of the YABC Training at the Youth Development Centre, GCU Lahore.
The sessions emphasized self-awareness, emotional expression, understanding power dynamics, and adopting non-judgmental attitudes. Through engaging and reflective activities such as the Car Park Activity, Doll Activity, and Box Activity, participants explored empathy, behavior patterns, and perceptions in their daily lives—key qualities for building resilient and compassionate communities.
The training concluded with a certificate distribution ceremony led by Rao Zaka ur Rehman, Assistant Director Youth and Volunteer at PRCS Lahore District, along with Dr Shakeel Mehmood, Advisor of the Disaster Risk Management Society, who presented certificates to all participants in recognition of their enthusiasm, participation, and commitment as future agents of positive behavioural change.

2-Days YABC Training – Day 1
The Disaster Risk Management Society (DRMS), Government College University (GCU), Lahore, in collaboration with the Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS), successfully conducted Day 1 of the 2-Days YABC (Youth as Agents of Behavioural Change) Training at the Youth Development Centre, GCU Lahore.
A total of 28 participants from diverse academic backgrounds participated in the training, including 19 females and 9 males, reflecting inclusive youth engagement across disciplines.
The session was facilitated by Mudassar Habib Jami, Youth & Volunteer Officer, PRCS Punjab, who introduced participants to the core philosophy of YABC fostering empathy, inclusion, non-violence, and positive behavioural change through interactive and experiential learning approaches.
Day 1 featured an introduction to the humanitarian mandate of PRCS, followed by engaging activities such as Introduction Exercises, the Labeling Activity, “Give Up,” and the Tree Mirror Activity. These activities encouraged self-reflection, challenged stereotypes, and promoted mutual understanding—essential values for effective disaster risk reduction, community resilience, and humanitarian response.
Through this training, DRMS aims to equip youth with essential life skills, emotional intelligence, and humanitarian values, empowering them to act as responsible, compassionate, and proactive change-makers in disaster-prone and vulnerable communities.
