Five years ago, on the 22nd of Ramadan, the world as I knew it shifted irreversibly. The sudden passing of our beloved father, Muhammad Aslam Shakir, left a void that no words can truly encapsulate. That day remains etched in my memory, not just as a date on the calendar, but as a moment when time itself seemed to stand still.
I remember the stillness of the night, the quiet hum of prayers, and the serenity that Ramadan always brings. But that night was different. The news of his departure came like a thunderclap, shattering the peace and leaving us in a state of disbelief. How could someone so full of life, so deeply woven into the fabric of our existence, be gone so suddenly?
My father was a man of immense kindness, wisdom, and strength. His presence was a source of comfort and guidance, and his absence has been a profound loss. I remember his laughter, the way his eyes would light up when he spoke of his dreams for us, and the gentle way he would offer advice, always with a touch of humor to soften the blow.
On that night, as we gathered in grief, the memories of his love and sacrifices flooded my mind. He had always been our anchor, the one who held us together through life's storms. His sudden departure felt like the ground beneath us had given way, leaving us adrift in a sea of sorrow.
But even in the depths of that grief, there was a strange sense of gratitude. Gratitude for the time we had with him, for the lessons he imparted, and for the love that continues to guide us even in his absence. Ramadan, a month of reflection and spiritual renewal, took on a new meaning after his passing. It became a time to honor his memory, to strive to live by the values he held dear, and to seek solace in the faith that he cherished.
Five years have passed, yet the pain of his loss remains fresh. But so does the love. His legacy lives on in the stories we share, the values we uphold, and the love we continue to give to one another. On this 22nd of Ramadan, as I remember my father, I am reminded of the fragility of life and the enduring power of love. His memory is a blessing, and though he is no longer with us in body, his spirit continues to guide us, just as it did five years ago.
May almighty Allah grant my father the highest ranks in Jannah.
