High-Level Review Meeting Held for Minority Welfare Schemes

All Deputy Commissioners (DCs) across Punjab joined via video link for a comprehensive review meeting chaired by Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, Minister for Minorities Affairs & Human Rights. The meeting was also attended by Secretary Usman Ali and senior officials from PITB.

The session focused on obtaining detailed progress reports regarding key government initiatives:

• Minority Cards

• Easter Grant

• Christmas Grant

• Baba Guru Nanak Jee Grant

• Vaisakhi Grant

The Punjab Government remains firmly committed to the timely and transparent implementation of all minority welfare schemes across the province.

Honourable Minister for Minority Affairs & Human Rights, Sardar Ramesh Singh Arora, visited the historic 40-year-old Holy Cross Catholic Church in Rahim Yar Khan to review its restoration.

The Minister emphasized that this restoration was essential because the Christian community was facing significant difficulties offering prayers on Sundays. He reiterated that under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, minorities are being treated as the "Jewel of our Crown".

This project is a testament to the Punjab Government's commitment to preserving religious heritage and ensuring dignity and ease of worship for all citizens.

Know Your Rights: Say No to Child Labour

Freedom from forced labour is an absolute human right. The Constitution of Pakistan explicitly protects children from exploitation under Article 11.

The Government of Punjab remains firmly committed to eradicating child labour through robust legislation, quality education initiatives, child welfare programs, and strict enforcement actions. Every child deserves freedom, dignity, and the opportunity to build a safe and bright future.

Together, let us end child labour and forced labour in all its forms.

Success Story: ASP Jevan's Journey to the Police Service of Pakistan

ASP Jevan from District Badin, Sindh, exemplifies perseverance and the transformative impact of government initiatives. After staying in Lahore for nearly three years and appearing in multiple attempts at the CSS examination, he secured an allocation in the Office Management Group before successfully joining the Police Service of Pakistan in 2025.

He credits his progress to the Government's National Outreach Program, implemented in coordination with CSA, which provides targeted training and support to minority candidates preparing for the CSS examination. ASP Jevan also speaks highly of the free accommodation and supportive environment he received at Gurdwaras during his stay in Lahore.

This story reflects the commitment of the Government of Punjab and federal partners in promoting inclusive access to public service opportunities and nurturing talent from all segments of society.

A productive meeting was held today under the chairmanship of the Secretary, Human Rights & Minorities Affairs Department (HR&MA), to discuss the adoption of Federal Laws at the provincial level.

The session was attended by representatives from various Christian denominations, Parliamentary Secretary Sonia Asher, MPA Tariq Masih, and senior officers of the department. A detailed briefing was presented on the proposed laws, followed by an open and interactive discussion with pastors and other stakeholders who shared valuable suggestions.

This meeting reaffirms the Punjab Government's firm commitment to inclusive consultation, protecting minority rights, and promoting interfaith harmony through meaningful engagement with all communities.
