The School of Economics hosted a *Meet & Greet with Alumni* session with Mr. Shahid Zia Cheema, the distinguished Chief Economist at the Planning Commission of Pakistan. His insightful perspectives on Pakistan's economic landscape and development strategies were truly enlightening.

The School of Economics successfully hosted another enriching session of its hands-on workshop series titled "Using R in Research: Unlocking Data Analysis & Visualisation" on May 31, 2025, for the BS students from Government Shalimar Graduate College.

The session was designed to provide participants with practical skills in data analysis and visualization using R, a powerful and versatile statistical programming language widely adopted in research and academic environments.

Throughout the workshop, participants actively engaged in interactive exercises and explored real-time applications of R in research settings. The session emphasized both foundational concepts and applied techniques, enabling students to gain a strong, practice-oriented understanding of the tool.

Feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive, with many highlighting the session’s insightful content, practical relevance, and engaging delivery.

We are proud and delighted to share that the Alumni of the School of Economics have successfully distributed scholarships worth ₨900,000 among deserving and talented students of the School.

Participants actively engaged in the session and explored real-time applications of R in research work. The workshop was well-received and appreciated for its insightful content and practical relevance.

On May 21, 2025, the Sunwai Welfare Foundation, in collaboration with the School of Economics, organized an insightful awareness session at the School of Economics. The event, titled "Awareness Regarding Procedure to Apply and Guidelines to Qualify CSS Examination," brought together distinguished speakers to guide and inspire students toward successful career paths.

Sardar Hamza Basharat, Assistant Collector Customs at the Collectorate of Customs Airports, Lahore, shared valuable insights on the CSS examination. He offered practical guidance on preparation strategies, subject selection, and high-scoring techniques, equipping aspiring civil servants with the knowledge needed to navigate one of Pakistan’s most competitive exams.

Adding further value to the session, Professor Dr. Tariq Mahmood—an internationally recognized specialist in Gastroenterology, Liver Diseases, and Endoscopy based in London, UK, and a key collaborator of the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP)—addressed the students. He highlighted various employment opportunities and emphasized government initiatives aimed at empowering youth, particularly those overseas. His talk served to broaden students’ perspectives on professional growth beyond borders.

Overall, the session served as a motivational and informative platform, offering students both strategic guidance for academic success and a broader understanding of employment avenues supported by national initiatives.
