Punjab Education Curriculum Training and Assessment Authority

Vice Chancellor of Lahore College for Women University, Dr Uzma Quraishi, visited PECTAA in connection with the Promotion Linked Training (PLT) programme.

During the visit, CEO PECTAA, Muhammad Musa Ali Bokhari, met with the Vice Chancellor and discussed avenues of mutual collaboration between both institutions. Matters relating to academic cooperation, capacity building, and potential internship opportunities for students were deliberated upon to promote practical learning and institutional linkages.

Chairman Muttehida Ulema Board, M***i Intikhab Ahmad Noori, called on CEO PECTAA, Muhammad Musa Ali Bokhari, at PECTAA to discuss matters of mutual interest.

The meeting focused on Islamiat curriculum, academic content and various educational materials to be referred to the Muttehida Ulema Board for review and guidance. Both sides also discussed strengthening coordination between the institutions to ensure quality, authenticity and effective implementation of curriculum-related matters.

In accordance with the vision of the Chief Minister Punjab and Minister for Education, a consultative meeting was held at PECTAA under the chairmanship of CEO PECTAA, Muhammad Musa Ali Bokhari, with owners and representatives of leading paper mills.

The meeting deliberated upon international practices regarding the use of recycled and virgin paper in educational publishing, while also discussing the cost-benefit analysis, sustainability aspects, environmental considerations and quality standards associated with both categories of paper.

Various proposals and global models were reviewed to explore economically viable and environmentally responsible solutions for the education sector of Punjab.

A Pre-Authority Meeting of Punjab Education, Curriculum, Training and Assessment Authority was convened by the CEO PECTAA to deliberate on key agenda items ahead of the upcoming Authority session.

The meeting focused on reviewing critical proposals related to curriculum reform, assessment improvements, teacher training initiatives, and ongoing institutional developments. Important matters of policy and implementation were thoroughly examined to ensure informed decision-making at the Authority level.

PECTAA convened the First Meeting of its Curriculum Advisory Committee, a landmark gathering of 28 distinguished educators, policy leaders, curriculum experts and international development specialists.

Chaired by Ms. Nausheen Adnan, Parliamentary Secretary for School Education and convened by Mr. Muhammad Musa Ali Bokhari, CEO PECTAA, the meeting opened a serious conversation about the future of primary education in Punjab.
The agenda was presented by MD Academics, Dr Zubda Zia included:
✅ Revise the Grades 1–5 curriculum
✅ Rationalise the heavy load of Student Learning Outcomes
✅ End the culture of rote memorisation
✅ Build a concept-based, efficient curriculum that makes children think not just memorise

In line with the vision of the Chief Minister of Punjab and the Minister for Education, PECTAA is committed to giving our students the gift of understanding over cramming.

The committee brought together Vice Chancellors, university deans, school principals, curriculum experts and assessment specialists from across Punjab and Pakistan. Joining online were — Dr. Faisal Bari (LUMS), Dr. Farid Panjwani (Aga Khan University, Karachi), Ms. Izzah Farrukh (World Bank), Mr. Abid Gill (JICA) and Mr. Riyaz Kamlani (CEO, TCF) reflecting the national and global weight behind this reform.
This is the beginning of a curriculum revolution.

CEO PECTAA chaired a province-wide meeting with Principals of all District PECTAA offices. The session focused on introductions, understanding district-level structures, and taking stock of on-ground capacity across the system.

In line with the vision of the Honorable Chief Minister Punjab and the Minister for Education and under the leadership of the CEO PECTAA, a significant initiative has been launched to empower students of public schools with modern digital and AI-enabled learning tools.

PECTAA has formally initiated the provision of Google IDs to 100,000 students across Punjab, enabling them to access advanced digital platforms and future-oriented educational resources.

A ceremony in this regard to sign the contract was held and chaired by Dr. Maliha Uroos, Managing Director PECTAA with Director Assessment & Examination, and Director IT in attendance.

This initiative will play a vital role in strengthening government schools, promoting technology-based learning, and taking the Government of Punjab’s Matric Tech initiative to the next level.

PLT (BS 19–20) Day 22 – Session 1
Diversity & Third Gender Inclusion
The First session of Day 22 focused on Diversity and Third Gender Inclusion, and was facilitated by Prof. Dr. Tayyaba Tamim from LUMS. The session provided a comprehensive understanding of diversity within educational contexts, with particular emphasis on the inclusion of individuals identifying as the third gender.
Dr. Tamim highlighted the significance of fostering inclusive learning environments where all students, regardless of their gender identity or background, feel respected, valued, and supported. The discussion underscored the social, cultural, and institutional challenges faced by marginalized groups, especially the third gender, including issues of discrimination, limited access to opportunities, and lack of representation within mainstream education systems.
The session further emphasized the critical role of educators and school leaders in addressing these challenges by promoting values of equality, empathy, and respect. Participants were encouraged to adopt inclusive teaching practices, challenge biases, and cultivate a school culture that celebrates diversity. Practical strategies were also discussed to ensure safe and supportive spaces for all learners, enabling them to participate fully and confidently in the educational process.
Overall, the session reinforced the importance of inclusive education as a fundamental component of equitable and progressive schooling.
