The Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) at Mirpur University of Science & Technology (MUST) conducted its much-anticipated Patent Clinic 2026 on June 2, 2026, at the ORIC Office. Prof. Dr. Faisal Riaz, Director ORIC, led the session and delivered a detailed, hands-on presentation on Pakistan's patent rules, filing procedures, and form-specific guidance, using his own successfully filed patent as a live example for participants. The event was facilitated by the ORIC team including Engr. Irfan Jamshed, Manager Research Management, and Ms. Samina Kausar, Manager Innovation and Commercialization.
Participants gained practical understanding of patentability criteria, the difference between *Form P-1A* and *Form P-3A*, prior-art searching, and the critical rule of
"*Protect Before You Publish*." ORIC continues to offer awareness, guidance, and financial support for patent filing at MUST. A follow-up Phase 2 session is scheduled for Thursday, where researchers may voluntarily bring their draft patents for refinement, review, and assistance with submission to the *Intellectual Property Organization (IPO), Pakistan*. Despite modest attendance, ORIC remains committed to supporting every serious researcher willing to take the step from innovation to protection, and encourages all faculty and research scholars to prepare their drafts for the upcoming hands-on clinic.

Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of MUST conducts Quality Assurance visit to Government Post Graduate College Mirpur
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) team of MUST led by Prof. Engr. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber (Director QEC) accompanied by Dr. Abdul Jabbar (Dy. Director QEC MUST), and Ms. Shamaila Zafar (Assistant Director, QEC MUST) visited the Government Post Graduate College Mirpur as part of its continued efforts to strengthen quality assurance practices and academic excellence in affiliated institutions. The QEC team was warmly received by Mr. Ijaz Ahmed (Associate Professor), Mr. Khawaja Zafar (Assistant Professor/QEC focal person), and Ms. Qudsia (Associate Professor / Head of the Department of English), Mr. Attiqur Rehman (Assistant Professor/HoD Department of Chemistry), along with other faculty members and staff of the college. The visit reflected the strong collaborative spirit between MUST and its affiliated colleges in promoting a culture of quality education and continuous improvement.
During the visit, the QEC team inspected various academic departments affiliated with MUST, including the Departments of Zoology, Chemistry, BBA, English, and others. The team visited laboratories, classrooms, library facilities, faculty offices, and other academic resources to review the overall learning environment and quality standards being implemented at the institution. The QEC team also interacted with faculty members and students from different departments to gain valuable feedback regarding the teaching-learning process, academic facilities, and student support mechanisms. In addition, detailed inspections of course files from the recently completed semester were conducted to review academic documentation and compliance with prescribed quality assurance standards. The visit concluded at the Department of English, where the Head of Department, Associate Professor Dr. Qudsia warmly received the QEC team and shared the department’s academic activities and future aspirations. It was highly encouraging to observe the enthusiasm and eagerness of the college faculty members to further enhance their understanding and implementation of quality standards in higher education. It was mutually agreed that the QEC of MUST will arrange future training sessions and capacity-building workshops for faculty members and students of the college on various quality assurance and academic development aspects. I would like to sincerely appreciate the administration, faculty, and staff of Government Post Graduate College Mirpur for their cooperation, hospitality, and commitment to academic excellence. Such collaborative initiatives play a vital role in ensuring quality education and strengthening institutional development across affiliated colleges of MUST. Department of Mathematics at Mirpur University of Science and Technology marks successful PhD Thesis Defense of its 14th Doctoral Scholar
The Department of Mathematics at Mirpur University of Science and Technology MUST, Mirpur AJ&K proudly announces that its 14th PhD scholar, Ms. Ayesha Naseem, has successfully defended her doctoral thesis in an open public defense held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026, in the Computer Lab of the Mathematics Department, Jarikas Campus. Ms. Ayesha Naseem completed her doctoral research under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rashida Hussain, Dean Faculty of Natural and Applied Sciences. Her thesis, entitled “Fractional Quantum Calculus and its Applications,” presents significant contributions to the fields of fractional calculus, quantum calculus, and cryptographic applications in mathematics. As part of her doctoral work, she has published four research articles in well-reputed impact factor journals, reflecting the quality and impact of her research. The defense was evaluated by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq, who served as the External Examiner.
The event was attended by distinguished academic and administrative dignitaries, including Prof. Dr. Rashida Hussain, Mr. Kamran Hameed, and Dr. Anzar Mehmood. Members of the supervisory committee, faculty from various departments, a large number of PhD and MPhil scholars, undergraduate students, and other participants were also present. Quality Enhancement Cell of Mirpur University visits AKSON College of Pharmacy to review Academic Standards & Quality Assurance Measures
The Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) team of Mirpur University of Science and Technology visited AKSON College of Pharmacy as part of the University’s continued commitment to strengthening quality assurance and promoting academic excellence in affiliated institutions. The delegation, led by Prof. Dr. Khuram Pervez Amber, Director QEC, accompanied by Deputy Director Sardar Shaukat Ayat Khan and Assistant Director Shmaila Zafar, was warmly received by the Principal, Dr. Rehman Zafar, along with faculty members and staff of the college. The visit commenced with a comprehensive presentation by the Principal, highlighting the institution’s academic progress, infrastructure, quality standards, and ongoing initiatives for continuous improvement. Graduate Placement Bureau (GPB) at MUST, Mirpur AJ&K hosts Guidance & Career Counseling Seminar on Pakistan Navy Short Service Commission
A comprehensive and professionally organized Guidance & Career Counseling Seminar regarding the Pakistan Navy Short Service Commission was successfully conducted at Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST), Mirpur AJ&K under the collaborative arrangements of the ASME MUST Student Chapter and the Graduate Placement Bureau MUST. The seminar aimed to provide students with strategic career guidance, professional awareness, and detailed insight into career opportunities available in the Pakistan Navy. The event was attended by a large number of students from different departments and various universities, along with respected faculty members and university staff. Conducted in a highly disciplined, dignified, and professionally managed environment, the seminar reflected the highest standards of organization and coordination. Distinguished guest speakers, Lt CDR Mahmood ul Hassan and Lt Faraz Ahmed of Pakistan Navy, delivered detailed and informative briefings regarding induction opportunities through the Short Service Commission. Their presentations comprehensively covered eligibility criteria, recruitment and selection procedures, professional training structure, leadership development, career progression, and the honor associated with serving the nation through the naval forces of Pakistan. The honorable officers further emphasized the values of discipline, integrity, commitment, patriotism, and professional excellence as fundamental characteristics of a successful officer. An interactive question-and-answer session was also conducted, enabling students to engage directly with the guest speakers and receive valuable guidance regarding their future professional aspirations.

Orientation Session of Roshan Pakistan Initiative “Each One Teach One” Held at MUST
An orientation session for the “Each One Teach One” component of the Roshan Pakistan Initiative was successfully conducted at the Mechanical Hall of Mirpur University of Science and Technology in collaboration with the National Commission for Human Development. The session was led by Dr. Farooq Abdullah, who emphasized the importance of community-based educational initiatives in promoting literacy and social responsibility among youth. He highlighted that the “Each One Teach One” model encourages students to play an active role in educating underprivileged segments of society, thereby contributing to national development. Two focal persons from each department participated in the session, ensuring broad institutional representation. In addition, students from various departments within the Faculty of Social Sciences actively engaged in the orientation, reflecting strong enthusiasm and commitment toward the initiative. Mr. Shahid Rasheed conducted a comprehensive training session for both focal persons and participating students. The training focused on effective teaching strategies, community engagement, and implementation mechanisms for the Roshan Pakistan Initiative at the grassroots level.

A dignified and intellectually enriching seminar was organized at Mirpur University of Science and Technology under the theme “Paigham-e-Pakistan in the Context of Marka-e-Haq and Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos” through the joint efforts of the Institute of Islamic Studies and the Directorate of Students Affairs. The event reflected the spirit of national unity, ideological awareness, and gratitude for the sacrifices rendered for the sovereignty and stability of Pakistan. The Worthy Vice Chancellor, Brig (R) Prof. Dr. Muhammad Younus Javed SI (M), formally inaugurated the proceedings with the Flag Hoisting Ceremony alongside Principal Officers, Deans, and senior university officials, followed by a collective Dua for the peace, sovereignty, and prosperity of Pakistan and tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan.
The official seminar commenced in the Mechanical Hall with the recitation of the Holy Quran and presentation of Naat-e-Rasool-e-Maqbool ﷺ. Dr. Tahir Aslam, Director Institute of Islamic Studies, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the ideological significance of Paigham-e-Pakistan and Marka-e-Haq in promoting national cohesion and intellectual harmony among youth. The seminar also featured reflections from Ms. Aila Jamil, student BS Islamic Studies, and a comprehensive lecture by Mr. Muhammad Imran Khan, Lecturer Institute of Islamic Studies, on the historical and national significance of the day. Prof. Dr. Zafar Iqbal, Dean Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasized the role of academic institutions in promoting patriotism, national integration, and constructive dialogue among students.
In the concluding session, Worthy Vice Chancellor appreciated the efforts of the organizers and stressed the need for universities to play a proactive role in fostering patriotism, intellectual development, and national harmony among youth. The program was efficiently moderated by Dr. Ghulam Mustafa and concluded with an awareness walk and patriotic rally from the Mechanical Hall to Shuhada Chowk, where the Worthy Vice Chancellor, faculty members, officers, and students expressed solidarity with Pakistan and paid tribute to the martyrs and Armed Forces of Pakistan.

BIC-MUST Strengthens Regional Collaboration through MoU with Women University Bagh.
The Business Incubation Center (BIC) at Mirpur University of Science and Technology (MUST) continues to strengthen its regional academic and innovation footprint through strategic collaborations across Azad Jammu & Kashmir. A delegation comprising Engr. Dr. Sohaib Manzoor (Director BIC-MUST) and Mr. Zahid Mehmood visited Women University of Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Bagh, where they were warmly received by Professor Dr. Anila Kamal (Vice Chancellor), Dr. Muhammad Mushtaq (Registrar), Dr. Muhammad Shahbaz (Dean Faculty of Science and Technology), Sahibzada Muhammad Zahid (Treasurer), and Dr. Muhammad Naeem (Director ORIC), along with faculty members. During the visit, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was formally signed with the ORIC office to promote joint efforts in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship development. From MUST’s perspective, this collaboration is expected to significantly contribute toward enhancing HEC BIC Scorecard performance through strengthened inter-university linkages, fostering a research-oriented culture, and directing youth towards innovation, commercialization, and startup-driven pathways. For Women University Bagh, the partnership opens new avenues for empowering female students and researchers by providing access to a well-established incubation ecosystem, facilitating research commercialization, and encouraging women-led entrepreneurial ventures in the region. BIC-MUST proudly stands as one of the leading and most active incubation centers in AJK, recognized for its impactful role in developing startups and bridging academia with industry, and remains open to extending a warm welcome to regional universities for meaningful collaborations.
