Recommended wheat varieties for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for Rabi Season 2024-25

An interactive knowledge-sharing event was successfully held on October 16, 2024, at the Agricultural Research Station (ARS) Swabi. The session aimed to bring together researchers, private seed companies, and stakeholders to exchange knowledge, explore collaboration opportunities, and foster business partnerships.

The event was a joint effort between ARS Swabi, the Agriculture Extension Department Swabi, FSC&RD, and various private seed companies, including:

During the session, all participating companies pledged to work collectively to promote the varieties developed by ARS Swabi, such as:

Green Finger (Okra)

Black Beauty (Kidney Bean)

Swabi Garlic-1 (Garlic)

Swabi-1 (Wheat)

Fakhr-e-Swabi (Maize)

Both public and private sectors agreed to maintain close coordination to support the agricultural development of Swabi district and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. This first-of-its-kind interactive session marks a significant step towards enhanced collaboration between the public and private sectors in agriculture.

This initiative was the outcome of a recent visit by Mr. Inayat Ullah, Regional Director FSC&RD, Peshawar, to ARS Swabi, whose efforts made this event possible.

FSC&RD look forward to ongoing partnerships and shared efforts for a more prosperous agricultural future.

Seed multiplication plots inspection by Akhlaq Ahmad(seed analyst) FSC&RD accompanied by Muhammad Sohaib (AO) Tordher Circle, Swabi.
During inspection, the team assessed the quality and purity of the seeds being produced in the multiplication plots. Akhlaq Ahmad scrutinized factors such as genetic purity, and adherence to certification standards. Muhammad Sohaib provided valuable insights into the agricultural practices employed in the area and assisted in facilitating the inspection process. Together, they ensured that the seeds being produced met the necessary criteria for distribution to farmers, contributing to improved crop yields and agricultural sustainability in the region.

Today, on May 8th, 2024 a productive meeting took place at the Office of USAID/ERDA Peshawar bringing together key stakeholders of the seed industry. Participants included the Regional Directorate, FSCRD Peshawar (represented by Mr. Inayat Ullah, Regional Director), Agriculture Research Merged Areas (represented by Mr. Miftahuddin SRO), Mr. Shad Muhammad (USAID Provincial Chief), along with other representatives from USAID and various seed companies such as Miankhel S.C. DIK, Mewa S.C. DIK, Paceline S.C. Swabi, Broadway S.C. Mardan, Seedex S.C. Nowshera, Anther S.C., DIK A.H.Seed Processing Industry, DIK, and Mardan S.C. Mardan.

The discussion primarily focused on the multiplication of maize seed OPVs, specifically varieties like Var. Kaptan & Azam across District Buner spanning 100 acres and 200 acres in Bajaur. The participating seed companies expressed keen interest in registering growers and subsequently procuring the seed for further marketing efforts.

Seed Market Monitoring (SAE) at mardan alongwith Regional Director Mr.Inayatullah on 10.11.2023

Prof. Dr. Inamullah Khan accompanied the seventh semester students of the University of Agriculture Peshawar's Department of Agronomy on a visit to the Federal Seed Certification & Registration Department's office located in Phase-V, Hayatabad. The students were given an overview of the department's goals and vision by Mr. Inayat Ullah, Regional Director of FSC&RD Peshawar, during this visit. In a same manner, Mr. Samiullah (SCO), Miss Farzana Ismail (SCO), and Miss Haseena Nabi (Seed Analyst) explained how law enforcement maintains seed quality in seed markets and how to certify seeds. At end the students visited the Seed Testing Lab as well, where they saw the analysis process firsthand. This visit took place on November 8, 2023.

Mr.Inayat Ullah, Regional Director, Federal Seed Certification & Registration Department Peshawar is addressing to Mega Gathering of Farmers as organised by IRDA-USAID regarding the distribution for further multiplication of improved wheat varieties for seed purposes at Sawaldher of District Mardan through registered growers as on 01.11.2023.

Mr. Muhammad Sadeeq (MD) and Dr. Sjjad Khan of Akora Seed Company visited the FSCRD Office Peshawar and discussed the categories of Onion Seed Production of Variety Swat-1 through method of Bulb to Seed Production with Mr. Inayat Ullah, Regional Director, FSC&RD, Mr. Samiullah (SCO), Dr. Farzana (SCO), Miss Haseena Nabbi (Seed Analyst), and others. The Regional Director office in Hayatabad, Peshawar, hosted the meeting on October 12, 2023.

Congratulations and wishing all the best for Dr. Abdul Bari sahib , DG Agri. Research System Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on his promotion to BPS-20. All his dedication, hard work, and passion have paid off and feeling really glad for him for the deserving position.Today on 05.10.2023, Mr.Inayat Ullah, Regional Director, FSCRD Peshawar alongwith Dr.Farzana (SCO) visited his office at Agri.
