A collaborative meeting was held between Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Care Commission, Khyber Medical University and York University, UK, to discuss a joint research project aimed at strengthening healthcare systems and promoting evidence-based improvements across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Dr. Nadeem Akhtar, Chief Executive Officer, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Care Commission, along with Directors Mr. Mohsin Ali Turk, and Dr. Shafa Haidar, participated in the meeting.
Professor Dr. Zia Ul Haq Vice-Chancellor, Khyber Medical University (KMU) along with KMU staff attended the meeting. Dr. Saima Afaq and Ms. Zala Khan from York University VIA Zoom participated in the meeting.

Dr. Nadeem Akhtar, Chief Executive Officer of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Care Commission, participated in a “High-Level Forum on Good Governance and Ethical Practices in the Medical and Pharmaceutical Sectors,” held in Islamabad, organized by Transparency International - Pakistan.
The forum aimed to: Highlight prevailing governance challenges and ethical concerns affecting the health and pharmaceutical sectors. Provide a platform for cross-sector dialogue on regulatory gaps and practical approaches to reform. Review and build consensus on a draft policy brief and roadmap outlining concrete short- and medium-term actions.
Identify specific roles and responsibilities for stakeholder groups to ensure effective follow-up and implementation.

Speakers briefed college staff and students on the dangers and financial burden of treatment by unqualified practitioners and the importance of checking healthcare Establishment registration and licenses. Participants were also guided on submitting complaints through the KP-HCC website.

Strengthening Healthcare in Swat & Buner!
The Directorate of Quality, KP Health Care Commission (KP HCC) successfully held two one-day trainings on Minimum Service Delivery Standards (MSDS) for GP and Specialist Clinics on 23rd & 24th September 2025 in Swat. 54 healthcare professionals, including Specialists, GPs, and clinic managers, actively participated, representing Swat and Buner districts.
The sessions focused on:
• Practical steps for implementing MSDS in private clinics
• Improving clinical quality & ensuring patient safety
• Strengthening compliance with licensing standards
This initiative reflects KP HCC’s commitment to safer, higher-quality healthcare services for the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
