The Mattani Hospital, Peshawar was visited on 12.5.2026 by Mr. Khalid parvaiz , Special Secretary, Health Department.The purpose of visit was to assess service delivery and infrastructure condition of the Hospital. The findings of the visit were as under.
1. The hospital was found functional with 40 beds capacity, providing indoor and outdoor services including Gynea, peads, medical surgical and dental to the population of the area at their door step with considerable workload ( average/daily OPD 350)
2.The service area was found well maintained, cleaned and in order with staff presence, engaged in provision of health care services.
3. The main issues of the Hospital were uninterrupted provision of electricity, damaged/ choked drainage system and major renovation of the building.
4. 12 to 15 hrs loadsheding was observed at the Hospital but the staff still engaged in provision of health care services by using mobile torches for light purpose. The Special Secretary appreciated the dedication of MS, doctors and allied staff of the hospital.
Instructions issued for further improvement of service delivery.
1. Preparation/ submission of PC-I for solarization and renovation of noted shortcomings for consideration by DSC.
2. Replacement of dental unit as it was in delipadited condition

The Health Department presented key ongoing projects and ADPs, including Oghi Category-D Hospital, Balakot Category-C Hospital, tourist season health arrangements, and upgradation of BHUs.

Provincial Minister for Health, Khaliq ur Rehman, visited the Directorate of Health, Warsak Road, Peshawar today.

The visit was attended by Director General Health, Dr. Shaheen Afridi, along with other senior officials.

The Minister conducted a thorough inspection of various departments and personally reviewed the organized records. He was briefed by the DG Health on departmental performance, record management systems, and ongoing activities. Overall, the Minister expressed satisfaction with the efficiency and organization of the records.

A detailed presentation was also given, covering departmental structures, staffing, and administrative frameworks. Emphasizing the importance of modernization, the Minister directed that all records be shifted towards digitalization. He highlighted that adopting digital systems will improve efficiency, ensure transparency, and accelerate service delivery, while reducing reliance on slower paper-based processes. Authorities were instructed to expedite the implementation of digital software and systems.

Concluding the visit, the Minister appreciated the Directorate’s overall performance and directed department heads to further strengthen attendance systems. He also stressed the need to ensure better facilities for doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff serving across the province.
